Jumping Jet Packs! Five Stories From the Golden Age of Personal

Surely we should all have harness copters by now?

Wings seem pretty harmless to me, compared to the 4000-degree jet exhaust.
Of course, as RAH showed in "The Menace From Earth", blowups^W accidents happen.
There was a book published in 2008 called JETPACK DREAMS about all the
various ideas people had tried to patent or otherwise bring to market,
and how they failed. I somehow got it from SFBC (I guess as one of
those random "science" flyers the stuffed in the envelope with the
newsletter) and it was already marked as a remainder, so I guess it
didn't sell well. I gave that book away after I read it, but it's
available in libraries (and apparently electronic form too).
