Hi fellow fans of words and art,
Well after some consideration I decided that this graphic novel was
indeed Speculative Fiction.
The graphic novel "Redcoat is mentioned as an Immortal but not deathless
Mercenary Soldier.
The plot is set in an alternate reality where occult rituals can bestow
immortality. Simon Pure is a British soldier hiding in a church where an >impromptu altar and various other things have been set up and Ben
Franklin is going to be made immortal to help guide the young nation.
Simon interrupts by falling onto the same altar where Ben is
and knocking him off it just as the energy summoned by the ceremony
arrives. Ur rfpncrf gur irel hcfrg Sbhaqvat Sngure phygvfgf naq

So the book, a trade paperback is very well done with
full color pages and lots of cover variations in the back to the
book. I got my copy at the San Francisco Public Library - Main.
Lots of sites online have it but this seems the most accurate
stuff. At $15.00 US it seems more reasonably priced than a
lot of other graphic or simply text novels. ><https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Redcoat-Volume-1/Geoff-Johns/Redcoat/9781534373181>

This is odd -- I'm reasonably certain I wrote a review of "Redcoat" somewhere but apparently it wasn't here, and I can't find it.
Suffice it to say I like it too. You found a collection, but it is an ongoing monthly comic as well. Simon is, as he acknowledges, a bit of
a dick, and the series charts his growth as a person among other things, taking time for warped adventures in American history, such as when
Simon & Johnny Appleseed became worm riders. Redcoat is part of the Geoff Johns's "Ghost Machine" timeline, and it looks like he will survive at
least into the middle of this century, presumably finally becoming the
hero he is supposed to be.

I don't do monthly comics but spend most of my time reading manga online
these days unless I find something I have enjoyed at the SFPL-Main or at
the
Kinokinya manga shop at Webster and Geary in the Nihon Machi malls
I did not get into quickly and why doesn't he at least modernize his
clothing.
Or did it become immortal along with him? Like a vampire's clothing but
a red coat
really not the mode since the days of the Hippies in the Haight.
