When everyone can afford 1Gbps fibre to home and has their house all
wired up to a central hard drive there'll be no more need for physical
media. You'll then be able to download a 4K movie at Blu-ray quality in
about 20 minutes, which will be quicker than going down to the shops and
back to buy it. If you've only got fibre to cabinet it will probably
take at least 5 hours, so even streaming it at that quality is currently impossible without fibre to home.

The stupid morons killed off Blu-ray the moment they imposed copy
protection on it, making it impossible for any modern PC to even play 4K
discs back without hacking them, since the hardware to decode the copy protected disc was removed from every Intel CPU about a decade ago and
was never part of any AMD CPU to even begin with.

You won't find a new one of those anywhere (except maybe unopend boxes
on places like eBay). They stopped making them years ago. Even some
type of DVD player, i.e. a Blu-ray / 4K player, will be getting
difficult to find because companies are no longer making those either (Panasonic might be the last one still making them).

Why would anyone want this show in SD? I'm still waiting

Buy a VHS/DVD combo and copy your VHS tapes to DVD...

You won't find a new one of those anywhere (except maybe unopend boxes
on places like eBay). They stopped making them years ago. Even some
type of DVD player, i.e. a Blu-ray / 4K player, will be getting
difficult to find because companies are no longer making those either >(Panasonic might be the last one still making them).

Although, as a licence fee payer the BBC have supplied you with
an online source of [nearly] every "Doctor Who" episode with
their iPlayer service, so in a way they have provided you with
an upgraded viewing experience to your VHS tapes... free of
    charge.

    :-)

Well, not free since it is part of the TV license.

I wonder if the 2 Ronnies Joke would be appropriate.

I don't have a TV to play them back on.

It's always glass half empty with you, isn't it? You should
be grateful for the delights the BBC do give you... I mean,
those lovely people at the BBC have thrown in bonuses like
"Class" and "The Sarah Jane Adventures" to make up for a few
missing "Doctor Who" stories on the iPlayer... AND, because they
know how much it means to you, you also get the seven "Tales of
    the TARDIS" episodes too. Wow!

You lucky people. Raise that half full glass and say, Cheers BBC!

And make sure you keep on paying your licence fee...

I never really watched The Two Ronnies but I know who they
