I mentioned a bit ago that
YouTuber Crispy Fry,
disillusioned with Modern
Who, had decided to try
Classic Who.

?v=OSd2a4BLvsw
I enjoyed his take. His fresh
gaze made me appreciate The
Time Meddlers more.

Yes to both. I don't remember
The Twin Dilemma well,
though. What's cool about it?

Twin Dilemma is not really liked by DW fans.
Neither is Timelash.

Go on Dave, do the anagram thing... it's been a few
years since we did that here.

When the Doctor tries to strangle Peri in The Twin Dilemma,
herCOs being misogynistic, so a Male Dimwit Then.
Oh, you mean the other anagram...

I find it surprising that there are people who call
themselves Doctor Who "fans" have never watched anything
from the Hartnell era...
Or that a person in his fifties seems unable to use a DVD
player properly! :-)

The First Doctor's era is what set the show up. Knowledge
of that era and its concepts are the basis for everything
that came later... Everyone should watch those old episodes
at least once. If all people had to judge "Doctor Who" on
was the modern version of the show then they'd have missed
the best thing about the show... its past!

Nobody should watch "The Twin Dilemma" ... unless it's
as punishment for doing something wrong.

Yes, the one that was actually quite apt for "Timelash"...
and Dave was always fond of throwing into discussions here
like none of us had ever heard it before!

There's a lot of modern Who now -- two decades' worth. I
can see how someone who'd watched it all would regard
himself as a serious fan.
I find it delightful that he was so into the classic show
once he tried it. Some might have dismissed it as creaky
old B&W history with crummy effects.

Heh. He probably hadn't used one in a while. :-)

I agree that any real fan should at least sample the old show,
even if the newer episodes are preferred. Similarly, someone
who likes modern Trek should probably watch an episode or two
of TOS, even if it's not the viewer's favorite thing.

Hmm, let's see here. It's an anagram of "timelash," and it
contains a swear. I'me guessing "lame sh*t." That does
sound appropriate.

I'm coming round to the idea that anything after 1984 for
"Doctor Who" could be considered as being wrecked by someone!

I suppose. But I can't see why a "serious fan" wouldn't have
felt the need to check out the old eras of the show during
those twenty years. Everything has a beginning. You'd think
people who get into a TV show would want to know how it all
began.
I find it delightful that he was so into the classic show

I'm sure it happens. There's a lot more going for 1960's Doctor
Who than that though. The story telling was actually quite good
for the time, and I'm sure the effects were pretty good for
television in the 1960's too.
