The UN on Wednesday said access for medical professionals into the
Gaza Strip remains severely restricted, with over 100 health workers,
including surgeons and specialized staff, denied entry since March,
    Anadolu reports.

oYesterday, emergency medical teams were denied entry into Gaza,o UN spokesperson Farhan Haq told a news conference, adding that othe World
Health Organization tells us that more than 100 health professionals,
including surgeons and other specialized medical staff, have been
barred from entry since March this year.o

Asked whether the group denied entry was a specialized team, Haq said:
oAs far as IAm aware, this was not a specialized group.o

oThis is part of the constant practice of banning the entry of medical professionals since March,o he added.

Noting that not all medical staff were barred from entering the Gaza
Strip since March, Haq stressed that ocertainly, 100 of them have been
banned since March, so itAs a huge number.o

He said access issues also stem from visa and movement restrictions by
    Israeli authorities.

Citing the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA),
Haq described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as obeyond
    catastrophic.o

oMore people are being killed and injured, either along convoy routes
or where theyAre staying,o he added.

The spokesman said ostarvation continues to happen,o with five new malnutrition-related deaths reported in the past 24 hours, bringing
the toll to nearly 200, half of them children.

Saying that Israel continues to block the entry of shelter materials
since March, Haq said: oToday, the Israeli military renewed two
displacement orders spanning some 1.5 square miles across five
neighborhoods in Gaza and Khan Younis governorates.o

Every person in the US is here either
legally or illegally. Those that are
    here illegally should be afraid.
Be very afraid. It does not matter
how long you have been here. It does
not matter why you are here. It does not
matter what you have done legally while you
were here. It does not matter what any
relative may have done while you were here.
It only matters that you are here illegally.
It may take a day, a week, a year, or longer
but we will find you and we will deport you.
    Be prepared.

    Deport them all.

All politicians are trained to lie
and make those lies sound like
the truth. They start with the biggest
lie of all: Politicians are public
    servants.

The Dims have an appropriate party
    symbol: A jackass.

    National Socialist American Workers Party
(NSAWP) formally known as the Democrat Party

Some of the Republican positions I find disgusting
    and abhorrent.
Most of the Democratic positions I find terrifying.

    I support:

    A Constitional Amendment establishing
    the Freedom of Choice.

    The elimination of public expression,
display or support of religion or
    religious positions.

Oic. So, you want to give the UN vastly more power but then control
it by allowing only "certain delegates" to enter the US.

How democratic and tolerant of you.

IAm sure there are lots of people who would be quite happy for the UN to >>move more of its operations to a venue with a much more credible >>reputation for neutrality ... like Geneva.

As long as we continue to pay the bills.

We're not the only bill payer and in fact are usually behind in our
    dues.

"No, the US is not fully current on its UN dues. While the US is
typically the largest contributor to the UN budget, it often defers
some payments until later in the year, and has accumulated significant
arrears. This practice, which began in the 1980s, is partially due to
the US budget cycle and has created a long-running liquidity crisis
    for the UN" <https://www.google.com/search?q=is+the+US+current+on+UN+dues&client=firefox-b-1-d&uact=5&oq=is+the+US+current+on+UN+dues>

This is yet another example of people believing what they want to

The stupidity of the 1914 war was because the idiots running governments
did not have a place for civilised talking and listenning.

The Concert of Europe degraded during the late 19th century as Italy
and Germany were formed a nations. This dramatically altered the
power balance in Europe setting the stage with intense national
rivalries replacing the negotiated balance of power.

Iow, the primary international forum for European discussion was dead
by the time the Archduke was shot.

The Cuban missile crisis was just as stupid but at least we had a place
to let ambassadors rant until they exhausted themselves.

The FACT of the CMC is, that Soviet missiles in Cuba were a direct
response to NATO missiles in Turkey. Once JFK agreed to removing the
missiles in Turkey, the USSR removed its missiles from Cuba.

This was all very back channel stuff and history barely remembers it.

That is wrong. They had places. the forces that propelled that war
could not have been diplomatically resolved.

The Cuban missile crisis was just as stupid but at least we had a place

That is also wrong and we came very close to a shooting was and with
ICBMs. It was dumb luck that saved us and a the good conscious of a
Russian Navel officer who disobeyed orders.

Credit to that ship's captain for not starting the shooting. Credit
also goes to Kennedy who agreed in back channels to remove US/NATO
missiles recently installed in Turkey. The Soviet missiles in Cuba
were a reaction to those US missiles.

Iow, the Soviets were not aggressing, they were reacting.

No, and that's WHY the UN has no teeth. No country is willing to do >>>>>> that.

But countries such as yours must find the UN useful for *some*thing, >>>>> otherwise why do they stay a member? Why not just leave?

The UN is a U.S. creation that has served the interests of the U.S. extremely
    well for 80 years.

Thank you for pointing that out.

It's not to say the UN has always done the bidding of the U.S., but mostly it
has, and biggest benefit to the U.S. is that it has largely kept other countries
in line. It isn't perfect, but it works in America's interest most of the time,
and pretty close to always on all the big things. Far right-wingnut rabid >> foaming about the UN is utterly misguided.

This is not your grandfathers UN and it's rabid antisemetism and danger
is real. Rightwing ciritism of the UN is spot on. The UN is a danger
    to Humanity.

The UN is an essential component of Pax Americana. Certainly that is
to be preferred to more world wars.

I disagree. We are quite sure quite a lot of them work.

They did work. The guys who made them have retired. People making
weapons now have never tested them. US weapons use tritium. That has to
be replaced every few years. None of replacements have been tested.
Replacing tritium is expensive; it has been speculated Russia cannot pay
for it so all their weapons are now duds.

And this time since last testing will only go on getting longer. We
cannot know if a screw has ever been misplaced.

We only know Russia has not tried one successfully which would be
detected. If they tried and it was a dud, would they tell us?

So we go forward with these things nobody would be stupid enough to use,
not sure if they can be used, but not sure they are inert. It sounds
    like peace might break out.

The US has been scrapping materials from older weapons and building
now ones from it. The old style massive bombs are being replaced by
smaller, tactical types. There was note of this during Obama's
    administration.

And this time since last testing will only go on getting longer. We
cannot know if a screw has ever been misplaced.

Nonsense. There is no need to test anymore. They know what works. As
far as quality control goes, while it's certainly possible that this
one or that one may have flaws, I doubt the are utterly useless and it
would apply to only a tiny fraction of the weapons.

We only know Russia has not tried one successfully which would be
detected. If they tried and it was a dud, would they tell us?

We would detect it. If the tritium is lost in a hydrogen bomb, it's
    still an atomic bomb.

So we go forward with these things nobody would be stupid enough to use,
not sure if they can be used, but not sure they are inert.

We can agree to disagree. While Russia has been impoverished long
enough to make the efficacy of their nuke arsenal suspect, I have no
doubt that ours is certainly effective enough to deter.

It sounds like peace might break out.

That would be nice but the abolition of WMD would only delay that
peace. It would make *any* nation safe to attack.

Repeating the point, the threat of nuclear war is the most important
thing that assures the major powers do not war on each other. Even
those without nukes themselves have allies with plenty of nukes. For
example, even disregarding American nukes, the French and British
still have enough to make the northern hemisphere uninhabitable for
    quite some time.
