    Nope, just an unpalatable truth.

    Nope, just an unpalatable truth.
Indeed, it is true that he lies quite often - he forms part of an
unpalatable lying government - you will note that his leader has no
moral compass to call out such obvious lies . . .

Has anyone done a poll on the public view that it is lifestyle choice to
    sleep rough?

Remember that very few politicians are ahead of the public opinion so when a Minister says that they, the homeless, are choosing to sleep rough, this is probably the public's perception.

We have seen items on television about those sleeping rough - they
asked some of them what it was like and it was no surprise that living
rough was not liked. One person interviewed was living in a vehicle
because despite having a full time job she could not afford rent. The
url calls the assertion from Mitchell a dangerous lie - as a Minister
he has staff able to arrange for him to get expert advice; but he
preferred to minimise the problem by lying - and no-one else in the
Act1stNat government has been prepared to tell the truth - they have
committed to give billions to landlords, and stop building social
housing while also reducing benefits in real terms, and keeping wages
low . . . . Lying is not the worst the government is doing, but I
suspect not even their avid supporters believe all of the lies.

To quote from the same article referenced twice above:
"Mayor says police minister awell informedA in saying 'sleeping rough
    is a lifestyle choice here'

The mayor of Rotorua says the police minister was owell informedo with
comments about rough sleeping as a olifestyle choiceo there.

There was a group of about 12 to 15 homeless people in Rotorua who
were choosing to sleep on footpaths in the city centre, Mayor Tania
    Tapsell said."

Now the homeless person living on the streets that froze to death was
in South Auckland, but it does illustrate well the need for government
action, and less blind adherence to a myth that homelessness is a
    "lifestyle choice."

Your unwillingness to read references you are given shows just how
dangerous such attitudes can be - if you cannot read what has been
posted in a thread, Tony, then don't prove you idiocy by fatuous lies
    about being "off topic".

preferred to minimise the problem by lying - and no-one else in
    the
Act1stNat government has been prepared to tell the truth - they
    have
committed to give billions to landlords, and stop building social
housing while also reducing benefits in real terms, and keeping
    wages
low . . . . Lying is not the worst the government is doing, >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>but
    I
suspect not even their avid supporters believe all of the lies. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    To which your response was:
All governments lie and most politicians lie, you lie, Ardern and
    Hipkins
    lied.
    Nothing new or remarkable here.

So congratulations on admitting that you were wrong, and tacitly >>>>>>>>>>>>>>acknowledging that Mitchell lied. You are of course off-topic on >>>>>>>>>>>>>>accusing other politicians of lying, but I guess that relinquishing
your normal propensity to being "loose with the truth" is a hard >>>>>>>>>>>>>>habit

Mitchell is just doing what politicians do - less nastily than >>>>>>>>>>>>>Ardren
    however
    fortunately.

So there you go again, going off-topic to attack someone else in >>>>>>>>>>>>trying to distract from a nasty lie by Mark Mitchell, who was lying

I am on topic and he is no worse and probably better than Ardern and
    Hiphins
    -
absolutely on topic - but you have no right to judge anybody on that
    matter,
    none whatsoever.

So you agree that he lied, but you have not been able to name any >>>>>>>>>>politician in either the current opposition or previous government who
made as and a lie as Mitchell - that appears to be an admission from >>>>>>>>>>you that you find lies to be acceptable for politicians you support . >>>>>>>>>>. .
Don't be such a prat. I made no such agreement.
Most politicians lie, Ardern for instance. Picking on one comment is >>>>>>>>>pathetically childish but is you to a T.

    Read this again: >>>>>>>>https://thejackalman.blogspot.com/2025/07/the-dangerous-lie-that-homelessness-is.html
    You read it, twerp.

I have, but I can understand that you do not want to read it . . . >>>>>>Here is another article - >>>>>>https://www.stuff.co.nz/te-ao-maori/360748583/homeless-person-froze-death-family-living-mall-car-park-amid-national-crisis
Your sarcasm is ripe and offensive.
I have read it, obviously you don't understand it. You deliberately >>>>>interpret
it based on your fanatical ideology.

Anyone who continues to believe that homelessness is a lifestyle
choice would have to be extremely callous - and that would include >>>>another politician who claimed that claimed that the police minister >>>>was "well informed" - what do you think, Tony?
I have not addressed that, keep on topic.

To quote from the same article referenced twice above:
"Mayor says police minister awell informedA in saying 'sleeping rough
    is a lifestyle choice here'

The mayor of Rotorua says the police minister was owell informedo with >>comments about rough sleeping as a olifestyle choiceo there.

There was a group of about 12 to 15 homeless people in Rotorua who
were choosing to sleep on footpaths in the city centre, Mayor Tania
    Tapsell said."

Now the homeless person living on the streets that froze to death was
in South Auckland, but it does illustrate well the need for government >>action, and less blind adherence to a myth that homelessness is a >>"lifestyle choice."

Abuse gone. You can't help yourself. You took my comments and moved the meaning
    - your fault, your stupidity, you are the fool not I.
Once more - I have not even once addressed the homeless issue, and that is why
you are so damn stupid - you simply cannot debate, it is an impossibility for >you. Go to your personal form of hell, you have earned it.

The whole point of the thread _is_ about homeless people - and the
assertion by the Police Minister and the Mayor of Rotorua that being
    homeless is a lifestyle choice.

That you are unable to address the Callous and Dangerous lies implicit
in the unsupported assertions of those politicians, you are off topic,
    Tony, not me.

You disappear into the cess-pit of your mind rather than contemplate
reality - I pity you, but the far-right politicians you refuse to hold
to account revel in your ignorant support for them . . .
