    Things have not changed in the 5+ years since I left Android. This was
    one reason, but not the only one:

    https://www.androidauthority.com/ios-26-reminder-how-bad-android-updates-are-3598714/

    I had device that got one OS update in 3 years. That one was because the
    OS was out-of-date when I bought it. It updated on initial boot. then crickets.

    Marion, stop bragging.

    Because - just like Linux - no one is in control. It is the Wild Wild
    West. This town with this sheriff does this. The next town with a
    different sheriff does something else. You don't like it? Then move
    to another town.

    Of course, this is known as "freedom" in Linux/Android land. In
    reality, it is chaos.

    It didn't use to be this way but currently iOS is the worst supported
    common consumer operating system, when compared to Windows & Android.

    *About software updates for Apple devices* <https://support.apple.com/guide/deployment/about-software-updates-depc4c80847a/>
    "not all known security issues are addressed in previous versions"

    Security researchers forced Apple to come clean to admit that Apple
    marketing has been lying to Apple owners for years about what is fixed.

    <https://hothardware.com/news/apple-admits-only-fully-patches-security-flaws-in-latest-os-releases>
    <https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2022/10/apple-clarifies-security-update-policy-only-the-latest-oses-are-fully-patched/>

    The fact is every common consumer OS vendor *fully supports* more than one release *except Apple* as iOS' full support is the *worst in the industry*.

    Don't these Apple trolls ever wonder why iOS has 1-1/2 times the exploits?
    <https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog>

    Here are s'more facts for these Apple Troll religious zealots who actually
    feel that when Microsoft or Google from time to time fixes "a bug" in an
    older unsupported release that *every bug* is fixed in that unsupported release.
    *Samsung Extends Android and Security Updates to 7 Years*
    ? <https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/samsung-extends-android-and-security-updates-to-7-years/>
    "Samsung phones now come backed with seven years' worth of
    security updates and seven generations of OS upgrades."

    *Google put Apple & Samsung on notice with 7 years of software updates*
    <https://www.tomsguide.com/opinion/google-pixel-8-software-updates>
    "That support covers everything, including full Android updates,
    the regular Pixel feature drops and security updates."

    *Apple finally confirms how long it will support iPhones*
    *(five years, 5 years) and it's less than Samsung and Google*
    ? <https://www.androidauthority.com/iphone-software-support-commitment-3449135/>

    Those are well-documented facts which the Apple trolls are completely
    ignorant of because they only believe in their MAGA marketing spiel.
    *Make Apple Great Again*

    Meanwhile, intelligent people make their assessments based on known facts. Apple has the worst hotfix support of all common consumer OS platforms.

    I once had an Android phone. It froze. Repeatedly. Without warning. It became unsupported within a year, without recieving even a single update; it had
    near zero resale value, so I kept it around, gathering dust, even after I replaced it with an iPhone which actually worked properly. I missed calls as
    a result of the Android freezing. Which meant that I lost money. The Android phone was replaced by an iPhone, an older, cheaper, on closeout sale iPhone. It cost more than the Android... but it did not freeze. I did not miss calls. I did not lose money. It paid for itself in less than a week. It was
    supported for years after I bought it. I simply have never bothered with Anroid since. Every one of my iPhones as been supported for a minimum of
    seven years; even the phones which are not supported are still usable.

    The company I work for once standardised in WinPhones. Because MS screwed around with the OS, we abandoned WinPhones, and created versions of our required company-specific software for both iOS and Android. The company
    would pay for the phone of the userrCOs choice, with a bias towards Android mostly because of price. At first over two thirds of the company phones were Android. Now, years later, more than 95% are iOS, and the company will be dropping Android support entirely at the end of the year. For our purposes, Android jusat doesnrCOt cut it. Period.

    No doubt Arlen will have something stupid to say; how sad, too bad, we
    donrCOt care about his bullshit, we care about what actually works reliably
    in the real world. And for us thatrCOs iOS.

    Pixel has an almost 0 market share. Our Samsung phones RARELY got
    updates. Same for Moto. Android updates, as widely documented, are
    across the spectrum of phone suppliers a total mess.

    Apple updates happen faster and more frequently than Android. Apple
    support extends way beyond 5 years. Android feature support is spotty
    across brands.
