    A new version of popular audio editor Audacity is coming down the
    pipeline, with some major rework of various functional stumbling
    blocks in the UI. But the one thing that everyone seems obsessed about

    Remember, folks, proprietary software is the one traditionally
    preoccupied with arty-farty issues like rCLdesign languagerCY and rCLbrandingrCY. Most open-source developers have little or no enthusiasm
    for such things; they just want to implement actual functionality.

    But, of course, the proprietary companies have the big bucks to spend
    to brainw^H^H^H^H^H^Hpersuade people to think and talk like they do,
    and concentrate on the points that they deem important. Surface
    matters more than whatrCOs underneath to them, so naturally thatrCOs what
    they want you to focus on.

    Audacity is now essentially proprietary software. The project was acquired
    by the Muse Group:

    The first thing accomplished by the Muse Group was to install telemetry
    and other forms of tracking into Audacity. This outrage caused a fork:

    Everyone is encouraged to use Tenacity and not Audacity.

    Will look into that; Debian Sid is still on a 3.x version and in
    Arch it's an (annoying) AUR install.
