    Q: Is anyone on this ng using Psiphon/FreeGate privacy tools on Android?
    Q: If so, what do you think of them?

    On Windows, I have been writing privacy tutorials for Psiphon & Freegate
    where I'm wondering if I should extend that privacy over to Android soon?
    *Tutorial: Build a one-click Windows custom SOCKS5 proxy client*
    <https://i2pn2.pugleaf.net/groups/alt.comp.os.windows-10/articles/190657>

    Windows:
    Psiphon is http/socks proxy by default (but can be configured to do VPN)
    FreeGate is an http proxy only (not a socks proxy nor a VPN)
    Android:
    Psiphon is a VPN by default (but can be configured to do socks/http proxy)
    FreeGate is an http proxy only (not a socks proxy nor a VPN)

    Given both Psiphon & FreeGate freeware works on Android, before I test it
    out for the team, I'm asking for advice from folks who know more than I
    about them (since I only started using them on Windows a few days ago).

    Have you used Psiphon VPN/Proxy or FreeGate proxy on Android yet?
    What did you think of it/them?

    I belatedly realized I didn't add the URLs for folks to get the APKs.

    The Psiphon for Android APK is on the Google Play Store repo (2025/09/22)
    <https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.psiphon3>

    The FreeGate for Android APK apparently can only be side loaded:
    <http://dongtaiwang.com:477/loc/dl/fgvpn.apk> Android VPN 1.6 (2025/08/29)

    A description of each shows they're similar in many ways, but not all.

    Psiphon uses its own set of geographically diverse distributed proxy
    servers designed to help users in censored regions access blocked content.
    It routes your Internet traffic through a rotating set of proxies so it
    appears to come from a random location where the content isn't blocked.

    Freegate uses the DynaWeb proxy network which is a distributed set of proxy servers designed to help users in censored regions access blocked content.
    It routes your Internet traffic through a rotating set of proxies so it
    appears to come from a random location where the content isn't blocked.
