that endangers international peace and security within the meaning of
article 39 of the UN Charter. Hitherto action by the Security Council
has been blocked by the abuse of the veto power by the United States.
Thus it becomes the responsibility of the UN General Assembly to adopt
a oUniting for Peaceo resolution and assume its responsibilities for peacekeeping pursuant to the UN Charter.Indeed, there is a danger of
major escalation and possibly a nuclear confrontation if countries in
the region like Turkey, Pakistan and Iraq were to become involved in
the Israeli-Iran conflict.
