Hilariously, after last update, my HP laptop with fully charged battery,
and perfect condition battery, it goes from charging to charged to on
battery to charging to full, to on battery all in constant rapid
succession... repeat... over and over... annoying when it (allegedly)
goes on battery as the screen brightness drops, its like a fucking disco light...

Funny thing is, when I boot into slackware, its perfectly fine, back to
win10 and shit be disco'n again, back to slackware, perfect again... Ahh
well, I only need to use two proprietary softwares on win10, nothing
else, thankfully my desktop (daily driver) doesnt dual boot so its happy
on slackware, jusat wish 15.1 wouold be released, somethings are a pain
    in an aging 15.0

I moved away from windows nearly a decade back and have no regrets. There
were a few apps I felt I needed so retained a couple of windows based computers, mainly stored out of sight and out of mind. A year or so back I scrapped even those and deleted even my virtual windows machines. Ah, the relief!

No, but I expect it by end of year, PV promised with wont be as long as
last time between drinks, and its been 3.5 bloody years now, already had
to move a couple "business servers" to debian becauser $propriatory billg system could no longer be built, couple pother minor nigglies too, but I
blame the wankers at rust for that.

yeah, unfortuantely these prgrams are business related, for 99 % of the

Microsnot said win10 would be the last ever windoze. then they
introduced win11 with significant hardware requirements. so they lied,
and rendered perfectly good computers obsolete to upgrade. I was so
disgusted I decided I'm done with windose, and switched my PC's to
Linux, and I've never looked back!

I'm using an app to rearrange them, but I have to run it every
    time I boot.

Bet that's the reason you have to do it every time you
boot, the app isnt saving the arrangement properly

so I tried a different app. same thing. I have to run it after each >>>>> boot to reset the desktop icons

Now that I think about it.. Those apps just save a record of the
icon placement. It's not their job to keep the icons in place,

It is their job to save the config so that Win uses the new arrangment
so you don't have to run the app every time you reboot.

windows is-a supposed to do that.

And it does if you dont fuck up Win10

So if windows isn't doing so,

    It does

it stands to reason-a the app has to be run to reset them.

    Bullshit

yeah, your comments usually are. It's a common problem that has
existed in windows as long as I can remember, and STILL persists in
    windows 11.

    Bullshit it does

Doesnt say its a common problem

    Well, it does say that.

For more advanced issues or a persistent problem, updating
graphics drivers or checking for Windows updates can also
help, as corrupted or outdated drivers can interfere with
    icon positioning.

Corrupted or outdated drivers aren't exactly rare issues in Window xx.

This problem of-a windows not saving icon positions has persisted for >>>> ages, and I've seen comments that it's still an issue with win11!

How odd that I have never seen either of them do that

a sample of one proves nothing

Neither does what some fool claims that google finds

    EOD

    Wrong, as always

Nothing astonishes Noddy so much as common sense and plain dealing.
