Been deathly quiet in here lately, thanks largely to all the morons
having fucked off and found amusement elsewhere, so I thought I'd post
some pics of what I've been amusing myself with for the last few months
on the off chance that _someone_ may be interested :)

I've been restoring an old Lathe I bought earlier this year. In
particular, it's a machine made by a British company called Colchester,
which is/was a British company that had been making lathes since the
1800's and made what I think was one of the finest manual lathes money
could buy back in the days when English equipment was the best in the
world. This particular lathe is a Master 2500 which first appeared
around the late 1950's and were made up until the mid 1980's before
production costs eventually killed them off in the face of more
    competitively priced alternatives from Asia.

Anyway, these lathes were enormously popular back in the day despite
being hideously expensive, and a great many of them found their way into
trade schools. This one actually came from a trade school in Geelong,
and I used one very similar to this when I was an apprentice years ago
and have wanted one ever since.

So here it is in all it's glory. After 4 months and a complete tear down
and refurbish, I'm happy to announce that this old "Pom" is back to it's
best and ready for a second life after spending the last 15 years
sitting forgotten in the corner of a crane truck workshop.

It came up a treat and I'm very happy with it. It'll be another couple
of weeks before it cuts it's first chips, as I need to rearrange the
room it's going in, but I'm looking forward to making many car parts
    with this old girl :)

I doubt if anyone is interested, but if anyone is I have a comprehensive
set of pics of the entire restoration process that I was asked to make
for an English lathe forum, and they can be found here:

There is indeed. There is something about the older gear that makes the

Not a machinist either. At best itrCOs an amateurrCOs work since he isnrCOt a trained, qualified or experienced *professional*. Note how he stated that

proof- like a trade qualification akin to what you and I have. With registration number of course. You and I both have divulged our reg

BTW, found those trade papers yet? Last seen sitting on your desk!
Careful, that would have been another of your delusions, the ones you
can't differentiate from reality. My trade papers, and Clocky's, are
real and registered on government trade registers, we both have trade registration numbers - and have shown them. You, on the other hand, have nothing to show. There are *no entries in your name* on the trade
registration database and *no records in the archives* at PROV. That's
all the evidence anyone needs to know that you are a liar through and

subject matter diligently and exhaustively but you? You had no idea of

misheard, from those intelligent enough to get signed up. You claimed

was also where the Auto Machining Training facility was located - just

Hmmm, I took photos of the *boxes* the listings were in - showing their archival numbering. The listings I had were in registration number
order. Darren hasn't given up any registration numbers - because he was
never ever awarded a number. Have to successfully complete and pass an apprenticeship to get those - ask me how I know! ;-). I also took
photos of TAFE cards of apprentices with the surname of Gibbens plus one alphabetically on either end. None possessed the first name of Darren.
How utterly unsurprising. One was a hairdresser, one was an
    electroplater. >

Yep, I can go to PROV again, summon up the same boxes of documents, hunt through them, find *nothing* with Darren's name on it, and post the same evidence as I did before (but not publicly here - been pilloried for
that). But there really is no need. A simple phone call was all I needed
to prove Darren has no trade papers to speak of. Not a single one! I
only went to PROV to check up on whether a set of lost documents was
relevant to Darren. It wasn't, the years range covered 1967-1976 was
from a non automotive, non aviation college. So, had Darren ever done
*any apprenticeship* in the time span he claims, then such proof would
be at PROV, including TAFE registrations and trade certificates awarded
    - a lot to cover his claims of 3 apprenticeships. But there's none!
Darren's problem is that he has no idea how the apprenticeship system in Victoria works. And it shows! >

According to the staff at PROV, it's not going to happen. Much of the
stuff at PROV, notably TAFE records, are all on the original filing
cards that were written up as the apprentices progressed through their
trade training. TAFE colleges had to keep such records in-house for 7
years, IIRC, then send the records off to PROV for permanent storage.
As I have mentioned before, all trade qualification records held at PROV
are on reams and reams of fanfold computer printout stored in the
original boxes the fanfold reams came in. It looks to me that the trade registration database was simply printed out in whatever order was
required and inexpertly formatted at that - lots of wasted paper and, I
might add, difficult to search through.

The Trade Qualification database is the only digitised record currently available online and even that is not available to the general public
AFAIAA. Unless, like myself, you know people in relevant places, all
requests for confirmation of trade qualifications have to be made
through the official channels. Back in the day I had full and direct
access to the trade registration database and needed to access it on
many an occasion but, alas, no longer.

A very nice & professional job, perhaps an A4 sheet of paper with LATHE
on it pinned to the tail stock may keep some people happy.
    Regards,
    Jacko.

More of a who cares? He's still a liar, not even remotely close to being
a mechanic and certainly not qualified.

Not a machinist either. At best itrCOs an amateurrCOs work since he isnrCOt a trained, qualified or experienced *professional*. Note how he stated that
he had used such lathes during his *apprenticeship*! Well, he didnrCOt sign up for any apprenticeship ever - no records in his name *anywhere* in the PROV archives and that means just one thing - herCOs a sociopathic liar! He can try to prove me wrong, only needs him to front up with irrefutable
proof- like a trade qualification akin to what you and I have. With registration number of course. You and I both have divulged our reg
numbers, should be a doddle for Darren to do likewise - *IF* he has the goods. Not holding my breath!

For the record when I placed my piece of paper with aus.cars written on
it to prove I was working on a new Jeep it didn't keep him happy. He
called it "juvenile" and said it proved nothing - but of course he
applies different rules to others but he doesn't apply them to himself.

...and "Jacko", how come you always pop your head up to validate the
fraud whenever he is fucking around in his shed?

Because Jacko is the FraudrCOs sock, a delusion of the master bullshitter himself!

Yes he's pathetic. Always seeking validation for fucking about in his shed.

But for all that validation he seeks and claims he has made he has only
ever proven himself to be an unqualified liar with amateur level
    automotive knowledge :-)

I've been restoring an old Lathe I bought earlier this year. In
particular, it's a machine made by a British company called Colchester, which is/was a British company that had been making lathes since the
1800's and made what I think was one of the finest manual lathes money
could buy back in the days when English equipment was the best in the
world. This particular lathe is a Master 2500 which first appeared
around the late 1950's and were made up until the mid 1980's before production costs eventually killed them off in the face of more competitively priced alternatives from Asia.

Anyway, these lathes were enormously popular back in the day despite
being hideously expensive, and a great many of them found their way into trade schools. This one actually came from a trade school in Geelong,
and I used one very similar to this when I was an apprentice years ago
and have wanted one ever since.

So here it is in all it's glory. After 4 months and a complete tear down
and refurbish, I'm happy to announce that this old "Pom" is back to it's best and ready for a second life after spending the last 15 years
sitting forgotten in the corner of a crane truck workshop.

Looks a nice lathe, much better than the one that I get to use at the

We had a couple of Colchesters in the first year mechanical workshop at
tech. Much older than yours (1930s) and had worked 24/7 during WWII,
still good lathes though just had a bit more backlash on the slides and
    driven by flat leather belts.

They're a great old machine, made in the UK back in the day when UK made
stuff was the best you could get. Unfortunately I've hit a snag with
this one, as after doing the resto and getting it in place and up &
running I've discovered a noise in the headstock which wasn't there when
I test drove it. There is an idler gear between the spindle and clutch
shaft that has worn out it's bronze bush and is flopping around and not
making proper tooth contact. The thing will no doubt keep working and
I've seen these things remain in service in a lot worse condition than
this one, but I've put a lot of time and effort into this along with
around 12 grand in folding and I don't want it broken.

I've got a tool holder rack and a couple of other things to make over
the next few days, and then I'll move the lathe back outside into the
workshop and rebuild the headstock. Fortunately I still have my old
lathe which will allow me to make whatever parts I can no longer buy.

They're excellent. For a lot of the 1970's and 80's they were the top
selling lathe in Germany, and given how particular the Germans are when
it comes to making tools and machinery, they would have to be pretty
damn good for them to consider a Pommy machine. Despite their ridiculous
    price :)

They're the Rolls Royce of manual lathes. Built to a very exacting
standard and capable of extremely high quality output. Probably a bit
over the top for my needs, but what the hell. Not much point in working
hard and making something of yourself if you can have things that you
    like :)

where we caught up with friends from Kempsey and Macksville and a new
couple just recently moved into Belo - great time had by all, the mirth
    flying thick and fast.

waiting for me to comment so he can jump up and repeat the *same* tired
old juvenile shit that he's said a *thousand* times before. The *really* funny part is that he's claimed a number of times now that he'd he happy
if I just fucked off and never came back.

Well, yes, but you keep coming back and, worse, you keep trying to spin
the same old tired old bullshit, lies and fake claims over and over.
Someone needs to call you out on them and it may as well be me! ;-) >
He's the Donald Trump of aus.cars: Unhinged, completely delusional, and
    full of bullshit :)

    Massive projection fail Darren!

Describing yourself again Darren? Why not prove *you* aren't full of
bullshit, prove your claims and, at at the same time, prove me wrong?
But you can't do that, can you? That's why every time I ask you to stump
up your trade reg numbers, you *run away* and go quiet. If there were
any truth to all your grandiose claims, the *archives at PROV* would
back you up with at least 10 or more records attached to your name. The reality, your name doesn't even get a look in, and you can check up on
that *yourself*, all relevant PROV records are *PUBLIC* and *OPEN*. The
only caveat, they are *physical records*, you have to order up the
records online and go view them *in person* at PROV. But you won' do
that, will you? You know full well there's *nothing to see there*
because you never qualified to even *enter into any apprenticeship
ever*. I still laugh when I recall how you slipped up on your own
    bullshit, so funny.
