The Aukus alliance seemed like a good idea at the time. Now, with Trump
in charge, not so much. The meeting next week between Airbus Albo and
Trump (if it happens) will be very interesting. I'm betting Trump will
jack the price of the subs up, and demand more non-refundable payments
from Australia, till we're in so deep we cant pull out. He'll also
DEMAND that the Virginia class subs MUST assist the US Navy in any war,
inc versus china in the South china Sea.

    And a month later: https://www.news.com.au/national/politics/donald-trumps-review-into-aukus-deal-could-send-price-of-submarines-soaring-with-a-worrying-new-china-clause/news-story/5b1c94ceb70a1a38d84a9c501e61d1e9

Hands up who couldnt see that coming....

Whilst it hasnt happened YET,... keep reading....

    Personally, if that's the case,
I'd tell him to shove his subs up his arsehole and walk *. Walk straight
to the UK, and start trying to buy Astute class subs, if they haven't
done so already. Faster, smaller, less crew, lot cheaper, and on par
with the US subs. Get 3-4 as soon as possible, and THEN worry about
building our own. (...If we must. I wouldn't bother building here, just
buy off the shelf, and get to work!)...) As a sovereign nation, we cant
be told what to do, or how much to spend on defence. Wonder where he
wants everyone to spend this extra money?

Whilst the poms are having difficulty building their own new Dreadnought
class of subs, we may well be left with nothing. At least until Trump
goes. So we patch up/refurb our Collins class, and if the war breaks out
in The South china Sea, we'll have to stay home, as our subs dont have
the endurance to fight there. Trump will have no friends,(maybe the Philippines, and Japan if threatened) and have to go it alone.

    Only winner here? Xi Jingpin.

He doesn't have to... none of the payments are refundable and there is
no obligation for the US to deliver if it deems it needs the subs for
    itself.

The idiots in charge went to the US and threw our tax dollars at that
corrupt regime in hope that it might buy some kind of security for the
deal - but of course there is absolutely no obligation for the US to
deliver any subs if they deem they need them - and since they can't even
get people to build them for their own needs - there is every chance we
won't see a single sub even after we have paid in full.

This sub deal is the worst deal ever for us and both that fucking
incompetent happy clapping moron Morrison should never have signed it
and the current fucktards chasing trump around like lost puppies
throwing cash in hope should have simply walked away from it.

There are people living in storage units and cars and cost of living is skyrocketing but throwing billions at a doomed "deal"... no worries.
