Anglicans have a woman Arch-bish for the first time in 1400 years! A
    historic event, no doubt.

The BBC report used the expression 'breaking the stained glass ceiling'
of the church. I thought that was a creative variation of the standard expression.

P.S. The surname Mullally is of Irish origin. Is god sending Anglicans a
    covert message?

N|-e rCLBowser.rCY I was going to counter that the Church of Ireland is long-established and there are plenty of Irish surnames that are Anglican.

But her husbandrCOs first name is Eamonn and given that and the pre-test probability from-ahis surname:

he is likely of Catholic background. So God or the hierarchy within the Church of England may be sending Anglicans a message to encourage marrying out.

There are plenty of Anglicans in Ireland - my Great-great-Grandfather was
    an Anglican priest in Tralee.
