Something to keep in mind is that the show normally does three episodes
a week, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. According to Shannon Guss on
RHAP, the plan here is to do 10 total episodes - three a week for three
weeks, and then the finale will be shown the fourth week.

Also at the end of this first episode, in place of the normal "Next time
on Survivor" blurb where they talk about the next episode, at about the 1:20:37 mark, JLP seems be doing a "this season on Survivor" kind of
thing where they start showing scenes from what might be episodes beyond
thge next one. To avoid any chance of spoilers, I would turn the video
off at that point just to be sure.

I thought that too. They do three episodes a week during a normal
season cause they do 24 episodes. With only 10 episodes, I figured
they'd just do one a week, but I guess they want to get through the
season quickly so they can start the new season of Celebrity Amazing
Race in September in that time slot.
