Tonight's episode is titled "Lovable Losers." I feel like that title is giving us a big hint. Also, will they give a warning before the sea
snake takes out Jake?
More later.

What sort of warning were you thinking of?
This was probably the weakest episode of the first three, IMO.
Some comments and observations:
-I have always believed that Survivor players should be wearing
shoes or sandals at all times, even when they are in the ocean.
If Jake had been doing so, the sea krait would not have been able
to bite his foot.
-The editors tried to create some uncertainty about Blue TriberCOs vote,
but it was dead obvious that Ass Kisser was going to play his idol, and
that he and Sophi were going to vote for High Talker. Any other outcome
would have been inconceivable , IMO.
-I found it irritating that Red and Yellow Tribes were shown talking about how important it was to find advantages that they could use during their upcoming "showdownrCY with each other despite the fact that most viewers
know that there will be a shuffle in E04. Given ProductionrCOs habit of shuffling
the players into three tribes, It would be safe to assume that the Red and Yellow
Tribes will not enter the merge with equal numbers.
-Speaking of advantages, the ones that MC Hammer and Ratso found were
not exactly well hidden, but at least they werenrCOt just tossed on the ground. :-)
-Is Savanah the shortest player ever to appear on Survivor? In every shot that
we see of her with another person, it looks like she is standing in a hole a metre
deep. No wonder she seems to have such a gigantic chip on her shoulder. :-)

I had no idea how Alex was going to vote. I'm glad Sophi stayed. Going

ended up being flown to a hospital in Australia so his condition might

was a total shock. I don't think anyone knew such a thing existed except
for past players.
--I had no idea Bird Woman's name is Christine until last night. She's
been so invisible thus far.
--Jason is great at puzzles. If he makes the merge I can see him being
an early target.
--Savannah's clearly the boss of the Red tribe. Sage better hope the
tribe shuffle results in her separation from Savannah.
--The medical facilities at base camp were larger than I was expecting.
With hundreds of crew members, it's probably warranted. Do you think
they have a massage facility for Jeff and the other big producers?

Shortest player on Survivor was Leif Manson from Survivor One World who
had dwarfism and was 3'11".-a Savannah is apparently 5'1".-a-a According to a Google search, a few female players were shorter, including Lyrsa and
Bi from David vs Goliath, both at 4'11".-a Shortest winner was apparently Denise Stapley, listed variously as 5'1" or 5'2".

That the snake taking out Jake might to traumatic for some viewers.
That would be valid if they actually showed the snake attack, but they apparently didn't record that.-a Just goes to show they don't capture
every moment of everything a Survivor does.-a (If I am remembering right, they also didn't capture the exact moment Skupin fell in the fire - only
the aftermath).
This was probably the weakest episode of the first three, IMO.
I thought it was a very unique episode. We saw and found out things
that even past players were surprised they included in the edit.
I agree with Zepp that it was ultimately a weak episode.-a I also thought they padded it out way too much with the medical stuff, which was
starting to feel intrusive and a bit maudlin.-a If I had been Jake, I
would have told Jeff to get the microphone and cameras out of his face
while he was talking to the doctors.
Some comments and observations:
-I have always believed that Survivor players should be wearing
shoes or sandals at all times, even when they are in the ocean.

the pregame bootcamp where they go over all of this stuff?
That's why they make water shoes - they are specifically designed for
use in water activities.
I took it that Jake never saw the snake until after it "latched onto
him", as he described it, and then bit him.-a I was actually surprised
that the snake was still hanging around afterward for the cameras to
catch it.-a I wonder what happened to the snake?-a They probably should
have captured it and brought it to medical in case the doctors needed to look at it.-a If nothing else, they needed to get the snake away from the players so it couldn't attack again.-a I would hope they didn't kill it
but were somehow able to remove it to a part of the island not visited
by the players.-a I'm surprised the show didn't address what happened
with the snake.
-The editors tried to create some uncertainty about Blue TriberCOs vote, >>> but it was dead obvious that Ass Kisser was going to play his idol, and

I didn't know how the vote would turn out either, but I was really
hoping for a 1-1-1 tie, which I don't recall if we have ever seen on the show.-a With Alex using his idol, the vote against him would have been disallowed and there would then be a re-vote and he would have been the
only one allowed to vote, so he would have decided who would go.-a But
the more interesting scenario I was hoping for would be Alex doesn't use
the idol and it's a 1-1-1 vote.-a I think in that case they would vote again, but if it again went 1-1 1, then what?-a And would Alex be allowed
to play his idol on the re-vote if he didn't play it on the main vote? I don't think so.-a If the vote remains tied 1-1-1 on the re-vote, would
they go to rocks?-a Usually when you go to rocks, the players who were
tied don't draw, but in this case, everyone was tied.-a So would they all draw rocks?
-I found it irritating that Red and Yellow Tribes were shown talking

This might be wishful thinking on my part, but I'm hoping we get two

This is another interesting situation.-a Normally they would do a tribe
swap in episode four with 15 players and you would get three tribes of five.-a But with Jake coming out of the game, there are only 14 players left.-a So do they swap 5-5-4 (and how do they decide which tribe is shorted) or do they make Brian happy and go with a 7-7 split.-a The 7-7 might be more fair, but I'm sure the plan was to continue with three
tribes until the merge and they no doubt planned the challenges to have three teams of five or less..

No, once it was known he had been bitten by a venomous snake, they
really had no choice but to extract him from the game and get him under medical care. Not only was it the smart thing to do medically rCo but IrCOm sure it was required by the showrCOs insurance and liability coverages.
--We lost both Canadians in Ep03. IMO, they might have been the

--Alex pulling out a binder showing all of the dangerous animals, etc.
was a total shock. I don't think anyone knew such a thing existed
except for past players.
I knew the players were given a briefing before the season began where
they went over all this stuff, but it never occurred to me they had it
in a reference manual.-a I presume it would actually be kept by producers but available whenever players needed to see it.

Think there were three in a row for one tribe with a medical evac from another tribe interspersed on that season.-a The medical evac delayed
Bhanu from being voted out for one episode.-a I don't ever remember a
tribe being decimated like this in a 3-tribe format.-a Of course in a 2- tribe scenario, you had season 10 where Stephenie and Bobby-Jon were the last two remaining in their tribe, and after Steph beat Bobby Jon at
fire, she just got absorbed into the other tribe.
--Blue was a horrible tribe. Has any tribe been worse at puzzles?
--WTF was up with Jake wearing a Leafs jersey?!
What's wrong with that?-a You can root for a team from a different state
or province from where you live.-a Maybe he lived in Ontario at one time.

Fair enough. Those sea kraits are certainly frightening looking.
I was
surprised Jake did not see the snake coming.
Probably because it was not moving. There is stuff all over those
beaches, and Jake probably just thought the snake was another
piece of beach debris. It was a good thing for him that the krait
was in a good mood.
I was more surprised he did
not know how toxic their venom is. Did he not pay attention during the
pregame bootcamp where they go over all of this stuff?
Probably not. However, during all the down time that he had in
the five days that he was in the game, he should have been carefully
going through the binder that each of the tribes had.
BTW, what the hell were High Talker and Ass Kisser eating in
the scene just prior to the snake bite? Was that breadfruit?
I thought Alex would have realized that and gone
with Jeremiah.
It was a good thing for Sophi that Alex didnrCOt figure out that she
was attempting to steal his Beware Advantage in E02. If he had
caught her, she might not have even made it to Day 6.
This might be wishful thinking on my part, but I'm hoping we get two
tribes until the merge.
Given that there are fourteen players left in the game, you might get
your wish.
One of them was hidden well enough that Jason couldn't find it.
Yes, the one in the slimy hole that MC Hammer didnrCOt want in her
knickers. The one that Ratso found was in plain sight though.
Speaking of Sage, I noticed that there was no pee talk in Ep03. Also no
poop talk.
That girlrCOs a mess. In the pregame interview that she did with Bloom,
she divulged that her pet peeve was rCLthe patriarchyrCY. Maybe Probst will make that the S49 theme. ThererCOs still time. :-)
--If Blue had fire, would the doctor have allowed Jake to renter the
game?
Not a chance.
--We lost both Canadians in Ep03. IMO, they might have been the weakest
Canadian players we've ever seen.
I had forgotten that High Talker is from Windsor, Ontario.
--Alex pulling out a binder showing all of the dangerous animals, etc.

I donrCOt think that viewers have previously seen the actual binder, but its existence has been mentioned before.
--I had no idea Bird Woman's name is Christine until last night. She's
been so invisible thus far.
I didnrCOt know her name either. But, TBH, I have sort of given up trying to learn the playersrCO names prior to the merge.
Bird Woman actually did pretty well in the challenge despite not being athletic. Yellow tribe really benefited from SavanahrCOs blunder on the balance beam which put Red Tribe well behind the others.
-- Sage better hope the
tribe shuffle results in her separation from Savannah.
Ha Ha!
--Do you think
they have a massage facility for Jeff and the other big producers?
For sure! The living and dining facilities for the producers and crew
have probably improved a great deal since we last caught a glimpse of
them in S1.
--In three-tribe seasons, have we ever seen one tribe lose four players
in a row at the start of the season? S46?
Yes, but only once. In S25, one of the tribes lost four immunity challenges in a row leaving Malcolm Freberg and Denise Stapley as the only surviving members. In E05, Probst dissolved their tribe and placed Malcolm and
Denise on the two remaining tribes.
--WTF was up with Jake wearing a Leafs jersey?!
I donrCOt know anything about professional sports, but am not surprised that Jake
does. To me, he just looks and acts like a rCLsports guyrCY.

Snake probably stuck around as a warning to let them know that next time they won't be so lucky. Show probably doesn't have trained staff on hand
to handle such creatures so they did nothing.

I haven't read any articles about the episode yet, but wouldn't be

complicated and risky which is probably a big reason why Alex played his HII.

really had no choice but to extract him from the game and get him
under medical care. Not only was it the smart thing to do medically rCo
but IrCOm sure it was required by the showrCOs insurance and liability
coverages.
--We lost both Canadians in Ep03. IMO, they might have been the
weakest Canadian players we've ever seen.
--Alex pulling out a binder showing all of the dangerous animals,
etc. was a total shock. I don't think anyone knew such a thing
existed except for past players.
I knew the players were given a briefing before the season began where
they went over all this stuff, but it never occurred to me they had it
in a reference manual.-a I presume it would actually be kept by
producers but available whenever players needed to see it.
Apparently, it's kept in a bag.
--I had no idea Bird Woman's name is Christine until last night.
She's been so invisible thus far.
--Jason is great at puzzles. If he makes the merge I can see him
being an early target.
--Savannah's clearly the boss of the Red tribe. Sage better hope the
tribe shuffle results in her separation from Savannah.
--The medical facilities at base camp were larger than I was
expecting. With hundreds of crew members, it's probably warranted. Do
you think they have a massage facility for Jeff and the other big
producers?
--In three-tribe seasons, have we ever seen one tribe lose four
players in a row at the start of the season? S46?
Think there were three in a row for one tribe with a medical evac from
another tribe interspersed on that season.-a The medical evac delayed
Bhanu from being voted out for one episode.-a I don't ever remember a
tribe being decimated like this in a 3-tribe format.-a Of course in a
2- tribe scenario, you had season 10 where Stephenie and Bobby-Jon
were the last two remaining in their tribe, and after Steph beat Bobby
Jon at fire, she just got absorbed into the other tribe.
I thought we only had Bhanu for four weeks even though it felt like an eternity. And then he disappeared for what's starting to look like forever.
--Blue was a horrible tribe. Has any tribe been worse at puzzles?
--WTF was up with Jake wearing a Leafs jersey?!
What's wrong with that?-a You can root for a team from a different
state or province from where you live.-a Maybe he lived in Ontario at
one time.
IIRC, Zeppo said Jake was originally from Saskatoon which would make the Oilers their closest NHL team. Yes, you can root for teams based in
another area from where you live. Maybe Jake really is Team Blue. Like
the Leafs, the Blue tribe could play 80 seasons in a row and never win.

That the snake taking out Jake might to traumatic for some viewers.
--Alex pulling out a binder showing all of the dangerous animals, etc.
was a total shock. I don't think anyone knew such a thing existed except
for past players.

-The editors tried to create some uncertainty about Blue TriberCOs vote, >>> but it was dead obvious that Ass Kisser was going to play his idol, and
that he and Sophi were going to vote for High Talker. Any other outcome
would have been inconceivable , IMO.
-I found it irritating that Red and Yellow Tribes were shown talking
about
how important it was to find advantages that they could use during their >>> upcoming "showdownrCY with each other despite the fact that most viewers >>> know that there will be a shuffle in E04. Given ProductionrCOs habit of
shuffling
the players into three tribes, It would be safe to assume that the
Red and
Yellow
Tribes will not enter the merge with equal numbers.
-Speaking of advantages, the ones that MC Hammer and Ratso found were
not exactly well hidden, but at least they werenrCOt just tossed on the
ground. :-)
-Is Savanah the shortest player ever to appear on Survivor? In every
shot
that
we see of her with another person, it looks like she is standing in a
hole a
metre
deep. No wonder she seems to have such a gigantic chip on her
shoulder. :-)
Shortest player on Survivor was Leif Manson from Survivor One World
who had dwarfism and was 3'11".-a Savannah is apparently 5'1".
According to a Google search, a few female players were shorter,
including Lyrsa and Bi from David vs Goliath, both at 4'11".-a Shortest
winner was apparently Denise Stapley, listed variously as 5'1" or 5'2".
Is there a wiki that lists players vital stats? If Savannah's 5'1" then
Sage must be fairly tall.
She also could have been caught when she
was spying on them. That would have been the end for her for sure.
I don't blame her! That scene was a good lesson for future players:
where pants with pockets when you go idol hunting.
Kind of funny given she's on a tribe where a woman appears to be calling
the shots.
I totally forgot about that! It's what should happen this time. Give
Yellow Alex and Blue Sophi.

There are various sites that list Survivor stats (including one referred
to as Survivor Wiki), but they are inconsistent in what they list.-a The source for Savannah's height was apparently an Insta post where she gave that figure herself.

Yes, her rCLspy shackrCY wasnrCOt very substantial. But given the situation that she
was in, she had to make do with what was readily available.

Come the merge, SavannahrCOs shot calling days may well be over. But,
in spite of the fact that I find her personality distasteful, she looked pretty
good in that one piece bathing suit.

I wouldnrCOt want to see that happen as it wouldnrCOt be fair to Sophi and Ass Kisser. I would rather see Probst have the players pull rocks as
a way to create two new tribes of seven each.
