Tonight's episode is titled "Cinema." The premiere was titled "Act One
of a Horror Film." Is this going to be a theme? Expect more poop talk
tonight. Savannah lets us know that she's already taken three dumps in
    the ocean. lol

    More later.

The aqua dump thing confuses me because I have heard Fiji has strict
laws about not polluting waters with human waste. I wonder how the show
gets around this? I've also heard that the show sets aside designated
land areas for this which they euphemistically call Coconut Grove. Is
the aqua dump thing more talk than real?

I always thought it was real because so many players (including Fiji
seasons) have talked about it. The show's not covering it up either so
it must be allowed. I doubt that the production crew is allowed to dump
    their waste into the ocean.

FYI, I watched the episode tonight and it was a lot better than last
week. There were a few things that happened that kind of surprised me.

Incredibly, yet another player is talking about aqua-dumping this
season. In at least one of her exit interviews, Annie discussed how the
one thing she wished viewers could have seen was a "really good aqua
dumping story". Details near the end of this story:

    https://tvline.com/interviews/survivor-49-annie-davis-exit-interview-episode-2-1235528010/

I agree episode two was slightly better than the first, but I still find
most of these characters to be unlikable. The Jake-Alex-Jeremiah-Sophi alliance is especially cringe. I thought I liked Sophi a bit after first episode, but now I see she's just as bad as the others. I continue to
dislike Jake and his idiotic bromance with Alex (their synchronized
handstands in the water was one of the dumbest things I've seen) and I'm
still puzzled by his shoe stealing fetish. Doesn't he get that if
someone sees him doing that it will come back to hurt him? I guess as a corrections officer he hangs around with a lot of petty thieves, but it
    still strikes me as dumb.

I was really astounded by blue team's inability to make any progress in
the immunity challenge, by which I mean no progress at all. I seriously wondered if they deliberately threw the challenge so Alex could get his
idol and vote back, but it doesn't really seem that happened. I love
the fact that Hina - yellow tribe - won the challenge in spite of having
to wear those 20 pound weights and having to find the right key among
several. I thought that was amazing. I'm guessing they will probably
do a swap soon, maybe in 4th episode. Before that happens, if Blue team
loses again, I'm guessing it's bye bye Sophi.

As for the other tribes it is clear that Savannah is really dominating
the confessionals, which might make sense given her background in TV.
It's obvious she is going far this season and could be the eventual
winner. Her alliance with Shannon, Nate and Riz looks pretty solid. As
for Riz-god, I'm a little surprised we didn't see much of him this
episode. He has to break out at some point beyond his flash of glory in
the first episode. Juwan got what might be his only moment of glory
when he won that journey challenge and chose the penalty for one of the
other tribes in the IC. I thought that was a dumb choice, and it's
obvious it had no effect - but I guess he got some tribemate points for
it. He's been otherwise pretty purple all season. On Hina, Sophie has
also been purple and we finally got some words from her. I'm kind of
    liking her alliance with MC.

So I'm not quite as down on the season as I was after first episode. I
think it has pulled ahead of seasons 41 and 42 at least, and maybe a
    couple more after that.

Their ineptitude was beyond belief. But why did Sophi take all the blame?

    A few more comments:

-What was up with the rCLbeware advantagerCY? It was just laying on the

-It was amusing that, even with all the protection she was getting from
the Canadian and Ass Kisser, Sophi still made a weak attempt to steal
the advantage item. She was never going to pull it off, but at least it
    showed that she was playing.

No they have done that before, most notably with ex-athletes and retired sports figures like Jeff Kent, Gary Hogeboom and Jimmy Johnson. And
going all the way back to season one, Rudy was identified as "Former
    Navy Seal".

There are also cases where someone was listed under a former profession without it saying "Former". For example, Lisa Whelchel was listed on
her season as "Actress" even though she had effectively been retired
from acting for several years. Ben Driebergen was generally listed as "Marine" or "US Marine" even though he had left the service and was
working in a warehouse when his season was filmed. And a case I
remember well because she was a personal friend of my niece, Denise
Martin was always listed as "Lunch Lady" even though it came out later
that she had actually left that position and was a maintenance worker
    when her season was filmed.

I'm sure there are other examples like this.

The ocean dumps and Sage's bladder issues must play a role in the
outcome of this season. It's kind of crazy how much coverage this stuff
is getting. Or is the season going to be so bad that they're trying to distract us from the gameplay?

I agree episode two was slightly better than the first, but I still find most of these characters to be unlikable.-a The Jake-Alex-Jeremiah-Sophi alliance is especially cringe. I was liking Sophi a lot until she didn't hesitate to screw over her
alliance. Jake is cringe on many levels. He and Sophi sure are touchy
feely and they don't even appear to be hiding it which is bad for Sophi.
Alex will do whatever it takes to be Jake's #1.

I was really astounded by blue team's inability to make any progress in

Blue sucks which is why I think Jawan took the advantage to help his
tribe in the IC. I also don't think stealing a vote would have helped
    him make a tribe swap.

Yes, Hina was impressive in the IC. I thought the disadvantage was crazy
and dangerous. When dismounting off of the net it looked like Sophie
nearly got whacked in the back of the head by the coconuts. That could
    have killed her.

As for the other tribes it is clear that Savannah is really dominating

Savannah appears to be working her butt off. She's trying to make things happen and is getting the best by far up to this point. RIZGOD is a bit
of a nonfactor so far. Nate impressed me and he did great in the IC.
Shannon is also looking good. If those four all make the merge they'll
be a force to reckon with.

So I'm not quite as down on the season as I was after first episode.-a I think it has pulled ahead of seasons 41 and 42 at least, and maybe a
    couple more after that.

I have a feeling things will continue to get better. With a sea snake
taking out Jake next week maybe we'll luck out and get rid of two
players. I wouldn't mind seeing Matt going. I can't recall who said he
comes across as being untrustworthy, but I agree.

Yes, there was no way that she was going to get her hands on that immunity object, even though she was competing with the two dumbest people on her
tribe. However, I enjoyed that scene as it was funny as hell.

The ocean dumps and Sage's bladder issues must play a role in the
    outcome of this season.

SagerCOs frequent urinating may have been the reason why she
was relegated to the rCLsit-out benchrCY during the challenge. :-)

It's kind of crazy how much coverage this stuff
is getting. Or is the season going to be so bad that they're trying to distract us from the gameplay?

TBF, Season 2 had a lot of scatalogical humour, and, in S44, Yammy
had a thing about defecating in the ocean. So, it seems like this stuff
    shows up periodically in Survivor.

Blue sucks which is why I think Jawan took the advantage to help his
tribe in the IC. I also don't think stealing a vote would have helped
    him make a tribe swap.

FWIW, I thought he made the right choice. He knew that he was not tight
with his tribemates, and saw the advantage as a way to both improve his position and keep his tribe away from TC.

Yellow Tribe is looking good too. Bird Woman may be on the outside
and we really havenrCOt seen too much from Sophie yet. But Steven,
Matt, MC Hammer, and Jason look rock solid. A lot will depend on
which tribe best survives the upcoming shuffle.

LOL! I laughed when she made her tribe wait to read the note about the Journey. That probably happens a lot. It definitely does on BB.

I totally forgot about Yammy. Savannah's ocean dumps talk could be foreshadowing a victory.

I agree. I do think he would have stayed over Annie even if he had not
taken the Tribe Disadvantage advantage. Annie was way too cocky and
pretty clueless as to what was going on.

I get bad vibes from Matt and Steven. Sophie was in a secret scene for
Episode 1. She seems pretty cool. Until a tribe goes to TC, it's pretty
hard to tell how the players are actually doing. At least I find it hard

I agree episode two was slightly better than the first, but I still find
most of these characters to be unlikable.

With the possible exception of the gal who is frightened of birds,
IrCOm okay with the members of Yellow Tribe. Blue Tribe is a complete disaster, and IrCOm feeling ambivalent aboutRed Tribe.

    The Jake-Alex-Jeremiah-Sophi
alliance is especially cringe. I thought I liked Sophi a bit after first
episode, but now I see she's just as bad as the others.
I guess as a
corrections officer he hangs around with a lot of petty thieves, but it
    still strikes me as dumb.

Even with their two weakest players out of the game, Blue Tribe is
    still a hot mess.

I was really astounded by blue team's inability to make any progress in
the immunity challenge, by which I mean no progress at all.

Their ineptitude was beyond belief. But why did Sophi take all the blame?
The ass kisser was working on the puzzle too, but Probst didnrCOt call him out.
    . I love
the fact that Hina - yellow tribe - won the challenge in spite of having
to wear those 20 pound weights and having to find the right key among
    several.

I suspect that, even if Yellow Tribe had to keep their bags of coconuts on when they were ascending the ramp, they still would have won the challenge.
. Before that happens, if Blue team
loses again, I'm guessing it's bye bye Sophi.

No, it will be High Talker IMO, and not a moment too soon from my perspective.

As for the other tribes it is clear that Savannah is really dominating
the confessionals, which might make sense given her background in TV.
It's obvious she is going far this season and could be the eventual
    winner.

God, I hope not. I canrCOt stand her. IrCOm willing to bet that she is the first player in franchise history to have her FORMER occupation printed
    under her name during confessionals.

    I

So I'm not quite as down on the season as I was after first episode.

The new wrinkles put into play by Production kept me entertained
despite my intense dislike of some of the players.

    A few more comments:

-What was up with the rCLbeware advantagerCY? It was just laying on the ground with no attempt having been made to hide it?
-It was amusing that, even with all the protection she was getting from
the Canadian and Ass Kisser, Sophi still made a weak attempt to steal
the advantage item. She was never going to pull it off, but at least it showed that she was playing.
-The rCLshoe banditrCY thing is lame beyond belief. I sure hope that it is being included in the edit because it has an impact on the Canadian's
    game in some way.

    A few comments from me:

--Did Jeff take a shot at BB during the IC? They were commenting on how
hot it was and Jeff said something like "You're not playing in an air conditioned studio." They're also not playing under blinding hot studio lights, locked inside for multiple days in a row with bad air, and have
to contend with an army of ants that has never lost a single season.

--Did you notice the outfit Sophi was wearing at TC? At first, I thought
it had turned cold, but Jeff made a comment about people sweating and
how hot it was. Is Sophi sick? Could next episode see Blue lose two
    players and no TC?

air conditioned studio." They're also not playing under blinding hot
studio lights, locked inside for multiple days in a row with bad air,
and have to contend with an army of ants that has never lost a single
    season.

But at least the BB people get fed better than they do on Survivor.

With food that's often well past the expiry date. With a ton of food
rewards nowadays, the players on Survivor don't suffer as much as they
use to. The weeks where BB has Have Nots, sometimes people really suffer because they can't handle slop.

But the whole excuse of the blue tribe for their bad challenge
performance is they haven't eaten much, which reflects that they haven't
won any food rewards so far and haven't been able to make fire. Of
course that goes back to the fact that they lost the first few
challenges and did not win their tribe supplies and have not earned any fishing equipment. They also don't have flint which means they can't
cook anything. So they're basically living on coconuts and whatever
insects and worms they decide to eat. Protein is pretty minimal.

I agree that for the last few seasons the tribes have for the most part
eaten pretty well with many great food rewards, but that hasn't really
kicked in yet so far this season.

I( didn't notice or have forgotten what Sophi was wearing.-a According
to Google, temps on Fiji during filming dates ranged from daytime
highs of 85F to lows of 73F.

She might have been sick then. I always thought it relatively cold at
night based on comments we've heard over the years.

It gets colder during the even-numbered Survivor seasons which are
filmed later in the year during the beginning of winter in June and
July. Temps during that time of year drop to low 60s at night, and it
gets worse during heavy winds or rain.

--Did you notice the outfit Sophi was wearing at TC? At first, I
thought it had turned cold, but Jeff made a comment about people
sweating and how hot it was. Is Sophi sick? Could next episode see
Blue lose two players and no TC?

I was really astounded by blue team's inability to make any
    progress in
the immunity challenge, by which I mean no progress at all.

Their ineptitude was beyond belief. But why did Sophi take all the
    blame?
The ass kisser was working on the puzzle too, but Probst didnrCOt

I suspect that, even if Yellow Tribe had to keep their bags of

. Before that happens, if Blue team
loses again, I'm guessing it's bye bye Sophi.

No, it will be High Talker IMO, and not a moment too soon from my
    perspective.

As for the other tribes it is clear that Savannah is really

the confessionals, which might make sense given her background in TV. >>>>>> It's obvious she is going far this season and could be the eventual >>>>>> winner.

God, I hope not. I canrCOt stand her. IrCOm willing to bet that she is the

Yeah, I don't really remember. It could just be that there was so much
drama that season with Eva and Joe and all the Kyle and Kamilla stuff
that they didn't include much weather discussion in the edit. I just
know that the even numbered seasons are usually filmed in June which
below the equator is the beginning of winter and the odd-numbered
seasons are filmed a few months earlier, usually in April, which is
    mid-Fall.
