• PROBLEMS WITH NEWS NEODOME TOO

    From thegoodstudent@thegoodstudent@nymph.paranoici.org to alt.privacy.anon-server on Fri Oct 3 20:38:41 2025
    From Newsgroup: alt.privacy.anon-server

As everyone knows, new.mixmin.net ceased to work.
I received my last nym message on 9/22.
So, as suggested, I changed some configuration in OmniMix.
In the News tab I set news.neodome.net port 119
    TSL enabled, socks 5.
In the Hamster tab/ ExtSvr tab
    I set news.neodome.net port 119
    TSL enabled, socks 5.
I restarted OmniMix and I executed my usual mail client.
It lasted several hours, but it downloaded all my nym mail
from years ago up to 9/22.
For some reason the mail client continues not to find my nym mails
    after 22 september.
This suggest to me that what happened to mixmin happened to neodome
    too.
But my impression is not supported by robust technical evidence.
There is a nym user out there who succeded by changing setting in
    OmniMix
    after the loss of mixmin?
    Thank You

I assume you meant to write nym.mixmin.net.

If you once had a nym account there it has become inaccessible.
    Indefinitely.

I see you have a nym acount at nymph.paranoici.org. You
    may continue to use that.

But it really doesn't matter which news server you download
AAM from. Nymservers are not tied to any one usenet server.

Just don't waste your time with news.mixmin.net.

    These ones work for me:

    paganini.bofh.team
    news.neodome.net
    nntp.csiph.com

So, as suggested, I changed some configuration in OmniMix.

Go to OM's ham\Groups\alt.anonymous.messages folder, open the file
data.dat and have a look at the Date: header line of its last message.

After a POP3 download by your mail client that message's local number at
the end of the Xref: header line plus 1 should be the Newsgroup Pointer
    value of your nym.

The Hamster log list also tell you about article downloads:

I see you have a nym acount at nymph.paranoici.org. You
    may continue to use that.

Yes I have a nym account at nymph.paranoici.org.
Before the death of mixmin I configured OM for using news.mixmin.net.
After the death of mixmin I configured OM for using news.neodome.net
in the tab Server and Hamster.
All the answers tomy nym go to AAM.
Well: I reset the pointer message to 1. I restarted Omnimix and after
some hours I downloaded all my old messages, but I continue not to
    receive nothing after 22 september.
Is someone out there using nym account wiith OM Hamster and aam and
    receiving messages after 22 september?
    Thank You

But I was more drastic. I set from zero the mail client,

I downloaded years of my nym messages, but they stop at 22 september.

That only shows that OM retrieves your nym messages correctly from the
Hamster repository whereas it still doesn't tell you whether Hamster is correctly downloading all a.a.m messages from the external server.

Look, on my part there's no problem with neodome:

At what position is your nym's Newsgroup Pointer? As you restarted at 1
it now had to be at 71510 + 1 = 71511. If it's lower your mail client
has to repeat downloading mail until you're there. The number in NwsNym
Access > Analysis Block Size defines how many postings are analyzed
during a single POP3 request. A fast computer may allow you to increase
that number without risking too much delay towards the requesting mail
    client.
