• Trump Tanks The Stock Market - China Tariff Hike Freaks Everyone

Yep, it WAS Trump this time.

Dow down more than 800, Tech-heavy NASDAQ maybe a
    proportionally larger drop.

Around noon Trump said he was imposing an additional
100% tariff on most Chinese exports - citing the lack
of progress, foot dragging, on a better trade deal.

Lucky he waited until Friday ...

The USA wants to make more money, China wants
to make more money ... but it seems there's
only just so much to go around. Problem.

The USA is still not set to replace made-in-China
products either in quantity or price. Can't be for
    quite awhile.

One good note, a company called Nitron Magnetics
broke ground in Minnesota this week. They have
a new formula for strong magnets that does not
require 'rare earths' - just a funky crystal
form of iron nitride. Cheaper and China-free.
EVs are hardly the only industry to badly need
this sort of product. Anyway, estimates for
15,000 tons in 2026 and up from there.

He tried to cast shade on Norway for the Nobel ...
... but China decided to cast shade on his shade.

Accidental, but it does give him more time to TACO over the weekend to
try to calm the Markets panic, because futures after today's bell are currently tanking pretty hard:

    DJIA F: -1118 (-2.40%)
    S&P F: -227 (-3.35%)
    NASDAQ F: -1101 (-4.35%)

    Woogh!

Niron (no "t"). And not presently publicly traded. It originally was
part of U of MN, and got seed money in the form of a $17.5M DARPA grant
    from DoE back in 2022:

Good thing then that TACO's not cutting that ... er, nevermind.

Something to thank Joe Biden for.

Nitron was part of the UofM until they got cash injections from Biden
    starting in 2022.
