I donrCOt store mail directly in any MUA-specific format. Instead. I run an IMAP server (Dovecot) on my main machine, storing all my messages in a
simple, well-understood, text-based format (maildir). That way I can
easily switch MUAs, and point each one at the same IMAP server. I could
also access that IMAP server from alternative machines on my LAN.
