The files associated with desktop icons have lines like:
Exec=nemo -n
What does the -n do?
nemo .h
-n, --no-default-window Only create windows for explicitlyspecified URIs
And to pinnerite: You should try it in shell.
'nemo -n ~/Downloads' or 'nemo ~/Downloads'
What happens?
Here nemo -n does nothing. I gave it no folder to start in.
but nemo -n ~/Downloads does open a window and Downloads.
My guess it's a safeguard to not open windows unless a starting folder is supplied.
Normally nemo along just opens in $HOME
