no doubt I'm 'selling coals to Newcastle' posting this, but I wanted to have the Computer
icon in the panel, but couldn't see a way to do it, but since I have the Home folder in
the panel, I added the Computer icon to it's toolbar. Now the computer folder is just one
extra click away.-a :)

I just started up Dolphin, and in its main list at the left, the top
two items are rCLHomerCY (the root directory of your user area) and rCLRootrCY
(the root directory of your entire system). Presumably one of those is
what yourCOre looking for.
I imagine other file managers are similar.
