• Email hostted failure

    From pinnerite@pinnerite@gmail.com to alt.os.linux.mint on Mon Aug 11 16:29:21 2025

My web-site (now redundant) is where several family email accounts are
    hosted by nativespace.

In general I have been happy with it but occasionally I have lost
access. Right now I have no access except for an emergency gmail
    account.

A ticket was raised. It was discovered that my ip address had been
    blocked.

    Why?

    No explanation.

It still doesn't work. The ticket has been raised to critical from high.

I think I need to find a way of moving all my contacts from the
accounts on Nativespace to the gmail account without bursting a blood
    vesssel. Such as:

    Bank accounts,
    Doctor's surgery
    NHS
    Dozens, probably < 100 contacts

If only there was an app!

nativespace support section talks about how to export contacts from
*other* webmail accounts to import into theirs, so I would assume that
it works about the same the other way around.

Luckily, you can copy all of your contacts from one place to another easily.

If I were going to take a shot in the dark and guess at which of the 3
versions of webmail you/one has, I would guess Horde.

Horde: If you are using Horde webmail, log in as above, then expand
the "Options" section of the folder tree on the left hand side.
Click the "Address Book" icon under "Global Options" then click on "import/export". Choose the file type, (Comma separated values) the
charset (western is usually the default,

That'll potentially work for sending mail to someone from the new
account, but it's not going to fix the remote party's configurations for automated mailings, etc.

And relies on him being able to login (which seems to be the underlying problem).

    Contact has just been made.
I took screenshots of the error message and the server settings and replied.
Of course there will be no one working at this time of the evening. :(

My suggestion was a guess about how to transfer his contacts from the provider's webmail to something else once his login problem was solved.

Right -- but I read the problem the other way around -- "How to get all
my providers automated email systems changed to not this address without
    losing my will to live?"

Which, well, is why random providers of stuff like that all get gmail :)

For all those interested in my traumas:

    1) My ISP has admitted they had blocked my IP address. No explanation.
    2) It still didn't work. After giving them direct access to my machine
and watched the mouse cursor darting this way and that, I was told
there was something wrong with the password, which I had given them.

This is the same password that all four email accounts had been using
for years. Anyway it seemed to work.

    3) Change the passwords on the computer and my phone. Very
    time-consuming.

    But I had comms!

Next, back to the hardware problem. Another thread.
