I know this isn't fast food, but the croissants from Costco are to the
ones from the fancy French bakery, as a McD's Quarter pounder is to a
top of the line burger at a nice restaurant. They are not like those
stupid crescent roll thingies from BK. My Costco membership has always
been mostly about gasoline and rotisserie chicken. Now, I have
croissants to add to that. We have a Sam's membership too, because it's
only 3 blocks away, vs 5 miles, but Costco has better chickens, better
    gas, and now these croissants.

We had stopped by our local Alliance Fran|oaise (my wife is a member) to
look for books in their library, and were shooting the shit with the guy there, who said that his GF is from France, and she says they're the
closest thing to what she grew up with that weren't super pricey ($4-$5
each). A dozen of the Costco ones are $6.99. He told us how to reheat
them. I like them dipped in maple syrup, actually 1:2 maple to corn
syrup, with a dark roast cafe au lait.

This morning's breakfast was rare beef on croissant with store brand A-1 knockoff for dipping.

And a tall glass of diet Canada Dry. Life is pretty fucking good.

In the novel I wrote, there is a paragraph that mentions the BK
    Croissan'wich.

    *****
It was a three-hour drive to meet the train, so they left about 6:30,
and went through the drive through at Burger King. Winter got lost in
her own thoughts--I usually don't eat like that, fast food breakfast,
and I'd lobbied for McDonald's because I was mostly interested in
another coffee, but Dad was driving, and (admittedly) better food won
out over better coffee. I had one of those crescent roll things with
extra sausage. Drives with my parents aren't bad.

I find Costco croissants to be quite excellent, and huge.

My only issue with them is-- because it's Costco, after all-- I have
to buy so many of them at once.

I certainly wouldn't call the excellent, but they are as good as the
ones I can make at home, and they're very inexpensive. The *excellent*
    ones cost $4-$5. https://www.nrbakery.com/>

We had a dozen that we bought yesterday afternoon. We gave our son two
for him and his GF. We've eaten five. Three are about to go over to the in-laws' house for sliced chicken breast sandwiches, to be accompanied
by my wife's pumpkin soup. That will leave only two. Those won't make
it to noon tomorrow. They're awfully good with maple syrup. I was
considering not renewing my Costco membership since we joined Sam's, but
these croissants, added to the better gasoline and better rotisserie
chickens. Sam's is only 3 blocks from here, but Costco is on the way
to/from the restaurant where we go for lunch every Saturday.
