With inflation going up so high since January, few people are
bothering with fast food. So the various fast food companies lobbied
to get EBT/SNAP benefits to get money.
The page linked above only shows restaurants in California. But
there are other states that allow it.
What I don't understand is why people would bother. You can spend
$6.00 on a combo at McDonald's, or get proper steak at Ralphs. And it
would be healthier.
There will be a short term jump in EBT sales as people try it
out. But I hope those who get the benefits will come to realize how
it's NOT an economical plan. They'll spend their benefits in the early
part of the month, then have no money left and no food.

Because there are healthier alternatives available *and* it's cheaper

I would be fine with a max limit each month or two. Say, $25.00
can be spent on fast food each month or every two months. Any amount
above that, the person has to pay out of pocket.

EBT is for food, fast-food is food. Therefore EBT is for fast-food.

No, it's not. You can make claims to the contrary, but that's not
debate. That's just you lying.
becouse your forgetting about the cost involved with
preparing the food.
It costs money to prepare fast food too.
Many people can't aford the time, therefore the
convience of fast-food is nessecary.
Yes, they can afford the time.
AGAIN, the US government has NO RIGHT to tell people what to eat.
AGAIN< they're not learn to read.
Fast food is a luxury.
Your opinion.
FACT. Indisputable fact.
In multiple country where peeopl e starving, a grocery
store would be considered is a luxury so what's the difference.
Because this isn't a country where people are starving. And fast food
would be a luxury there as well.
When they send food aid to starving countries, do they send Big Macs
and Whoppers? No, they send flour, rice, beans, and staples.
LUXURY:
(1) a condition of abundance or great ease and comfort : sumptuous >environment
(2a) something adding to pleasure or comfort but not absolutely
necessary, "fast food is one of life's luxuries"
(2b) an indulgence in something that provides pleasure, satisfaction,
or ease, "had the luxury of choosing from seven or eight different
fast food vendors"

Fast food should NEVER be allowed through EBT.
Why not?
Because there are healthier alternatives available *and* it's cheaper
to make food at home than it is to buy it as fast food.
Fast food is a luxury. EBT should not pay for luxuries.
I would be fine with a max limit each month or two. Say, $25.00
can be spent on fast food each month or every two months. Any amount
above that, the person has to pay out of pocket.
Yes, it would be far more economical to buy the ingredients and
cook at home. Frequently healthier, too. And frozen hamburgers, like
White Castle, can be bought and microwaved, or cooked in a traditional >>oven, at home. But the occasional treat shouldn't be denied outright.
Before Trump took office, fast food was a good choice for cheap
food. Not really healthy, but it could fill a person for little money, >>keeping hunger pangs at bay. And there were enough nutrients to
sustain life. Now, the nutrition is much the same, but it's really >>expensive.
Some states are banning junk food purchases with EBT. People can
use their own money if they want it. A really good, IMO, commentary on >>people's melt downs can be seen here: >>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0NE5k5r9Vk
Kwills,
if your so anti-fast food then why the hell are you posting in this

Fast food should NEVER be allowed through EBT.
Why not?
Because it's cheaper and healthier to prepare food at home. A
person could make burgers at home for less than the cost of one at
some fast food restaurants.
In LA, the Quarter Pounder with cheese is $8.99 + tax. That is
for ONE sandwich. If I were to make four (from one pound of ground
beef) at home, they would come to around $4.49 a piece. And that's
using national brands. Using store brands would be even cheaper.
I'm actually surprised you don't go this route. You could eat
even more for less. Allowing you to eat even more for that $120/day >>($40/visit) you bragged about spending on fast food.
Or was that another lie?
[Cue Jenny running away from the truth. Or diverting from it.]
I don't follow your logic. It's unsound.
Here is an example of SOUND logicL
EBT is for food, fast-food is food. Therefore EBT is for fast-food.
Fast food should NEVER be allowed through EBT.
Why not?
Because it's cheaper and healthier to prepare food at home.
I don't follow your logic. It's unsound.
