I'll make something easier for you. Here is the totality of my
real, true criminal record.
In 1987 I got a speeding ticket outside of Coralville, Iowa. I
was doing over 80, but the officer dropped it to 70 in a 55 so that
I'd have a lower fine to pay. If I recall correctly, it was $45.00. It
was almost 40 years ago, so it may have been a bit more or less.
In the winter of 1991 I got a parking ticket. I want to say it
was early February, but it may have been late January. Allow me some
wiggle room, since it was over 30 years ago. Anyway, I parked in front
of one of the dorms in Iowa City for more than the posted five minute
time limit. I was there nearly an hour and a half. I had to pay $5.00.
I recall the amount because I called it my $5.00 parking spot from
that point on.
In late summer of 2002 I got a ticket for failing to renew my
license plate tags. I still feel a bit stupid for this one. The fine
came to $30.00. The pure stupidity on my part makes me recall the
amount so well.
I am deeply, deeply ashamed of these offenses.
Ok, in reality I'm a little embarrassed that I spaced off
renewing my tags. Especially since CalDOT mailed me a reminder.
I think the $5.00 fine was financially wise. The nearest parking
garage was three blocks away and charged $5.50 for up to 30 minutes,
then $3.50 per half hour after that. I continued to park in the five
minute spot when visiting, but was never cited again.
I paid the total assigned for each offence.
Wow. It feels so good to get that off my chest. I just hope my
confession doesn't diminish the way the honest posters in the group
see me. Since you cannot be honest, unless you make a mistake, your
view of me will remain the same. In fact, you may try to use these to
further your lying in some manner.
