I heard that on the radio this morning. I used to live in the shadow
of the hill upon which the center resides. Beautiful campus on the
top of a hill adjacent to a county park. Two separate 115KV feeders
supply power to the facilities (I watched one fail during a winter
storm a few years ago - a connector where the feeder made a 90
degree turn was flapping in the wind - causing an explosion every
time it contacted the tower).
The "Silicon Valley Lab", aka Santa Teresa Lab is actually south
of Almaden (by less than a mile), not east as the Register proclaims.
