A program appears to install, that is, the installation routine
completes, but when I click on Finsh, with "Open Reolink" checked, the program does not open. Clicking on its desktop icon has no effect
either. Is there a log somewhere that might give a clue as to what is
wrong?
With earlier versions, nothing happened except the hourglass cursor went
on for a couple seconds. With the latest two version, I also from my firewall get a question, "Do you want public and private networks to
access the program". I say yes, but nothing else happens.
The June version of this program installed easily in win10 but with the problem above in win11. The company set up a remote session and he
installed it in under 20 minutes.
Then a month after he gets it working, I get a notification that a new version is available and without thinking, I click, "Yeah, go ahead" and
now it does not work agian.
(They may be willing, they should be willing, to do another remote
session, but I'd like to not depend on them.) I asked what he did that I
did not do, and he said he installed a previous version and used the
Update button, but I had tried to do that too before I complained to
them. I couldn't get a previous version to run either (except a very previous version with no Update button)
I watched and the only other thing he did was close all my programs. I haven't closed other programs in 25 years and afaik it's never caused a problem , but I did it tonight. Didn't help
There are multiple entries in Firewall incoming list for Reolink,
reolink client, and reolink.exe, so the installation was far enough
along that it really did contact the firewall (of course, or it wouldn't
have asked me a question)

The install page in the picture, shows it installing in:
C:\Users\BaiChuan\AppData\Local\Programs\Reolink
which is owned by Micky and not owned by TrustedInstaller.
That means if the program stored data while running, it
might be tempted to store it there. My folder-equivalent to
that, is absolutely clean, and nothing is stored there that
the OS did not put there.
You could check in there and see if a real Win32 EXE is there.
If the EXE has a size of 0 bytes, it could be an attempt at a Metro.App .
But I don't think Metro.Apps live in low security storage.
Maybe we could interpret such a location, as a "portable" application ???
*******
Do properties on the EXE, use the Compatibility tab and change the OS version ?

OK, let's go get one.
