"On Monday, a new law will come into force in Texas, restricting
people and companies from China, Iran, North Korea and Russia from
purchasing and renting property. Officials say that Texas Senate Bill
17 of 2025 will protect national security, but to people like Jason
Yuan, a naturalised US citizen born in China, he says it sends a
discriminatory message - that people who look like him are not welcome
    in his home state."

A discriminatory message. Oh dear, how dare they. Why can't we call
    things what they are?

You can cal it mad or crashed - call it what you want to call it.

Almost every country has restrictions on who can purchase real property. Non-Canadian citizens are currently banned from purchasing most
    residential property in Canada.

A federal ban on non-Canadians buying residential property in
metropolitan areas was put in place in 2023.

It looks like you are unfamiliar with The Canadian Prohibition on the
Purchase of Residential Property by Non-Canadians Act.

Chinese were buying up all the condos (primarily in Vancouver and
Toronto) and renting them out while still living in China. So, we made a new law :)

Nice try. the blurb describes a naturalized person born in china
cannot now own or rent property. In other words he may not live in
    TX.

Foreign buyers in some high population areas in canada can be excluded
from buying real satiate. The issue with that is that they buy the
house, and but do not live there, it stands empty and thus is part of
the reason for very high real estate values in such places. But if a
foreign person, otherwise eligible to stay in canada, wants to live
here, they certainly can rent and live in their apartment.

It does appear that real estate values remain unreasonable in big
canadian cities, so the exclusion does not seem to have had much
effect. For one thing, I would bet that previously purchased homes
    would be excluded.

ItrCOs a good thing Canada did that before they bought up half the for sale property and drove the prices thru the roof.
