Jehoahaz, King of Judah

2Ki 23:31-34
1 (Jer 22:11) Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah
and made him king in the place of his father in Jerusalem.
2 And Jehoahaz was 23 years old when he began to reign,
and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
3 Then the king of Egypt deposed him in Jerusalem and imposed on the land
a tribute of a hundred talents [About 33/4 tons, or 3.4 metric tons.]
of silver and a talent [About 75 pounds, or 34 kilograms.] of gold.
4 (Jer 22:10-12) The king of Egypt made his brother Eliakim king over Judah
and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. But Necho took his brother Jehoahaz and carried him to Egypt.

[1] Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made
him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem.
[2] Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
[3] And the king of Egypt put him down at Jerusalem, and condemned the land
in an hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.
[4] And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and turned his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.

Judah Overrun by Enemies

1 (Jer 25:1; Da 1:1) In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up,
and Jehoiakim became his servant for three years. Then he turned
and rebelled against him.
2 (Jer 35:11; 2Ki 23:27; 6:23) The Lord sent against him bands of
Chaldeans, bands of Arameans, bands of Moabites, and bands of Ammonites.
He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word
of the Lord that He spoke by His servants the prophets.
3 (2Ki 18:25) Surely at the decree of the Lord this came upon Judah,
to remove them from before Him, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all
that he had done,
4 (2Ki 21:16) and also for the innocent blood that he had shed, for he
filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord was not willing to pardon.

[1] In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him.
[2] And the LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldees, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD,
which he spake by his servants the prophets.
[3] Surely at the commandment of the LORD came this upon Judah, to remove
them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did; [4] And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem
with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.

5 (2Ch 36:8) Now the rest of the deeds of Jehoiakim and all that he did,
are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?
6 (Jer 22:18-19; 2Ch 36:6) So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers,
and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his place.
7 (Jer 37:5-7; 46:2) The king of Egypt did not come again from his land,
for the king of Babylon had taken over from the Brook of Egypt to the River Euphrates all that belonged to the king of Egypt.

[5] Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they
not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
[6] So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in
his stead.
[7] And the king of Egypt came not again any more out of his land: for the
king of Babylon had taken from the river of Egypt unto the river Euphrates
all that pertained to the king of Egypt.

2 Chronicles 36:6-8

6 (2Ch 33:11) And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against him
and bound him in bronze chains to lead him to Babylon.
7 (2Ki 24:13) Nebuchadnezzar also brought out some of the vessels
of the house of the Lord to Babylon and put them in his temple in Babylon.
8 (2Ki 24:5-6) And the remainder of the acts of Jehoiakim, the detestable things that he did and were found against him, are written in the book
of the kings of Israel and Judah. Then Jehoiachin his son reigned
in his place.

[6] Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.
[7] Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the LORD to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
[8] Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he
did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book
of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his

8 (1Ch 3:16; 2Ch 36:9) Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became king. He reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother's name was Nehushta
daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
9 He did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father
had done.

2 Chronicles 36:9

9 Jehoiachin was 18 years old when he began to reign, and he was
king in Jerusalem for three months and ten days. He did what was evil
in the eyes of the Lord.

[9] Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned
three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in
the sight of the LORD.

Jehoiachin, King of Judah
2Ki 24:8-17

10 (Jer 37:1; 2Ch 36:7) In the spring of that year King Nebuchadnezzar sent
for him and brought him to Babylon with the precious items
from the house of the Lord. Then Zedekiah his brother was king over Judah
and Jerusalem.

[10] And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought
him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.

2 Kings 24:10-17

Jehoiachin, King of Judah

10 At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was under siege.
11 Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to the city while his servants were besieging it,
12 (Jer 24:1; 52:28) and Jehoiachin king of Judah went out
to the king of Babylon, he, his mother, his servants, his princes,
and his eunuchs. The king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.

The Captivity of Jerusalem

13 (2Ki 20:17; Isa 39:6) He brought out from there all the treasures
of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king's house, and cut
in pieces all the implements of gold in the temple of the Lord,
which Solomon king of Israel had made, just as the Lord had spoken.
14 (2Ki 25:12; Jer 52:28) He exiled all Jerusalem, all the princes,
and all the mighty men of valor, ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths. No one remained, except the poorest people of the land.
15 (2Ch 36:10; Est 2:6) He exiled Jehoiachin in Babylon. The king's mother,
the king's wives, his eunuchs, and the elite of the land he took into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.
16 (Jer 52:28) All the fighting men, 7000, the craftsmen and smiths, 1000,
all those strong and fit for war the king of Babylon brought them into exile
in Babylon.
17 (Jer 37:1; 2Ki 23:34) The king of Babylon made Mattaniah,
the uncle of Jehoiachin, king in his place and changed his name to Zedekiah.

[10] At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.
[11] And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, and his
servants did besiege it.
[12] And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he,
and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.
[13] And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD,
and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.
[14] And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the
mighty men of valour, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths: none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.
[15] And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the king's mother, and
the king's wives, and his officers, and the mighty of the land, those
carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.
[16] And all the men of might, even seven thousand, and craftsmen and smiths
a thousand, all that were strong and apt for war, even them the king of
Babylon brought captive to Babylon.
[17] And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his father's brother king in
his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

The Kings of Judah

Zedekiah, King of Judah

11 (2Ki 24:18-20) Zedekiah was 21 years old when he began to reign,
and he was king in Jerusalem for eleven years.
12 (2Ch 33:23; Jer 37:2-21) He did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord
his God and did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke
from the Lord.
13 (2Ch 30:8) He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by an oath by God. He stiffened his neck and hardened his heart
against turning to the Lord God of Israel.
14 Even the officials over the priests and the people increased in their unfaithfulness in all the detestable practices of the nations,
and they defiled the house of the Lord which He had consecrated in Jerusalem.

[11] Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and
reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.
[12] And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God, and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of
the LORD.
[13] And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him
swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from turning unto the LORD God of Israel.
[14] Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed
very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house
of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.

Zedekiah, King of Judah

18 (2Ki 23:31; Jer 52:1-11) Zedekiah was 21 years old when he became king.
He reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hamutal
daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
19 (2Ki 23:37) He did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.
20 (2Ch 36:13) Because of the anger of the Lord this happened
in Jerusalem and Judah until He threw them out from His presence.
But Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

[18] Zedekiah was twenty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

[20] For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and
Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

2 Kings 25:1-2

The Fall and Exile of Judah

Jer 39:1-10; 40:7-9; 41:1-18; 52:4-27; 2Ch36:17-20
1 (Jer 34:1-6; 52:4-11) In the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month,
on the tenth day of the month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came,
he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and set up camp near it.
They built siege mounds against it all around.
2 The city came under siege until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.

[1] And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month,
in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.
[2] And the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.

2 Kings 25:3-7

3 On the ninth day of the fourth month the famine was severe in the city,
and there was no food for the people of the land.
4 (Eze 33:21) The city was breached, and all the fighting men fled
by night by the way of thegate between the two walls,
which is by the king's garden, though the Chaldeans were all around the city. They went along the way of the Arabah.
5 Then the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook him
in the plains of Jericho. All his army deserted him.
6 (2Ki 23:33; Jer 34:21-22) So they captured the king
and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah,
and they passed sentence upon him.
7 (Jer 32:4-5; 39:6-7) They slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah. They bound him with bronze fetters
and brought him to Babylon.

[3] And on the ninth day of the fourth month the famine prevailed in the
city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.
[4] And the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the
way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king's garden: (now the Chaldees were against the city round about:) and the king went the way
toward the plain.
[5] And the army of the Chaldees pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army were scattered from him.
[6] So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to
Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him.
[7] And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes
of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to
Babylon.

2 Kings 25:8-21

8 (Jer 52:12-16) In the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month
(that was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon), Nebuzaradan, the captain of the bodyguard, a servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem.
9 (Am 2:5; 2Ch 36:19) He burned the house of the Lord, the king's house,
and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every great house he burned with fire.
10 (Ne 1:3) All the army of the Chaldeans who were with the captain of
the guard tore down the walls of Jerusalem all around.
11 The rest of the people who remained in the city,
the deserters who had defected to the king of Babylon,
and the rest of the crowd Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguard
took into exile.
12 (2Ki 24:14; Jer 40:7) But the captain of the bodyguard left
some of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and farmers.
13 (1Ki 7:15; 2Ch 36:18) The bronze pillars that were in the house
of the Lord, the stands, and the bronze sea that were in the house
of the Lord the Chaldeans broke in pieces, and carried their bronze
to Babylon.
14 (Ex 27:3; 1Ki 7:47-50) The pots, the shovels, the snuffers,
the incense bowls, and all the bronze implements which were used
in service they took away.
15 The fire pans and sprinkling basins that were fine gold and fine silver
the captain of the bodyguard took.
16 (1Ki 7:47) The two pillars, the one sea, and the stands,
which Solomon had made for the house of the Lord-the bronze of
all these implements was beyond weight.
17 The height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits,
[About 27 feet, or 8.1 meters.- and a bronze capital was on it.
The height of the capital was three cubits.
[About 4 1/2 feet, or 1.4 meters.] Latticework and pomegranates,
all of bronze, were on the capital all around. The second pillar with its latticework was like it.
18 (1Ch 6:14; Ezr 7:1) The captain of the bodyguard took Seraiah
the chief priest, Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers
of the threshold.
19 (Est 1:14) From the city he took a eunuch who was an officer
over the fighting men, five men of the king's council who were found
in the city, the chief scribe of the army who mustered the people
of the land, and 60 men from the people of the land who were found
in the city.
20 Nebuzaradan captain of the bodyguard took them, and brought them
to the king of Babylon at Riblah.
21 (Dt 28:64; 2Ki 23:27) Then the king of Babylon struck them down
and killed them at Riblah in the land of Hamath.
Thus he exiled Judah from their land.

[8] And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzar-adan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem:
[9] And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man's house burnt he with fire.
[10] And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the
guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about.
[11] Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the
fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carry away.
[12] But the captain of the guard left of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen.
[13] And the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brasen sea that was in the house of the LORD, did the
Chaldees break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon.
[14] And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and
all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away.
[15] And the firepans, and the bowls, and such things as were of gold, in
gold, and of silver, in silver, the captain of the guard took away.
[16] The two pillars, one sea, and the bases which Solomon had made for the house of the LORD; the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
[17] The height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and the chapiter upon
it was brass: and the height of the chapiter three cubits; and the wreathen work, and pomegranates upon the chapiter round about, all of brass: and like unto these had the second pillar with wreathen work.
[18] And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and
Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door:
[19] And out of the city he took an officer that was set over the men of
war, and five men of them that were in the king's presence, which were found
in the city, and the principal scribe of the host, which mustered the people
of the land, and threescore men of the people of the land that were
found in the city:
[20] And Nebuzar-adan captain of the guard took these, and brought them to
the king of Babylon to Riblah:
[21] And the king of Babylon smote them, and slew them at Riblah in the land
of Hamath. So Judah was carried away out of their land.

2 Chronicles 36:15-21

The Fall of Jerusalem

2Ki 25:1-21; Jer 52:4-27; Ezr 1:1-3
15 (Jer 25:3-4; 35:15) The Lord God of their fathers sent warnings
to them over and over again by His messengers because He had compassion
on His people and His dwelling place.
16 (2Ch 30:10; Jer 5:12-13) But they continued to jest regarding
the messengers of God, despising His word and making fun of His prophets
until the wrath of the Lord came up against His people,
until there was no remedy.
17 (Ps 74:20; Ezr 9:7) So He brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans from Babylon, who killed their young men with the sword at the house of their sanctuary. He did not spare a young man or virgin, old or aged. God gave
all of them into his hand.
18 (2Ch 36:7; 36:10) Even all the vessels of the house of God,
both large and small, and the treasures of the house of the Lord, the king,
and his officials, all of this was taken to Babylon.
19 (Ps 79:1) So they burned down the house of God, tore down the wall
of Jerusalem, burned down all the palaces with fire, and destroyed all
the precious items.
20 (Jer 27:7) Then he carried into exile to Babylon the remnant,
who survived the sword, and they were slaves to him and his sons
until the kingdom of Persia ruled,
21 (Jer 29:10; Da 9:2) to fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth
of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her Sabbaths. As long as she lay desolate, she kept Sabbath, to fulfill 70 years.

[15] And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers,
rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and
on his dwelling place:
[16] But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and
misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.
[17] Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no
compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age:
he gave them all into his hand.
[18] And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of
his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.
[19] And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem,
and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.
[20] And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon;
where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom
of Persia:
[21] To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath,
to fulfil threescore and ten years.

2 Kings 25:22-26

Gedaliah, Governor of Judah

22 (Jer 39:14; 2Ki 22:12) Over the people who remained in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, he appointed Gedaliah
the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan.
23 (Jer 40:7-9) When all the captains of the armies, they and their men,
heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah,
they came to Gedaliah at Mizpah, that is, Ishmael son of Nethaniah,
Johanan son of Kareah, Seraiah son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite,
and Jaazaniah son of the Maakathite, they and their men.
24 Gedaliah swore to them and to their men, and said to them,
"Do not be afraid of being the servants of the Chaldeans.
Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well for you." 25 But in the seventh month, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah,
the son of Elishama, of the royal line, came with ten men
and struck down Gedaliah. He died along with the Judeans
and Chaldeans who were with him at Mizpah.
26 (Jer 43:4-7) Then all the people, both small and great,
and the captains of the armies arose and went to Egypt,
for they were afraid of the Chaldeans.

[22] And as for the people that remained in the land of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had left, even over them he made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, ruler.
[23] And when all the captains of the armies, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, there came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethahiah, and Johanan the son of Careah,
and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of
a Maachathite, they and their men.
[24] And Gedaliah sware to them, and to their men, and said unto them, Fear
not to be the servants of the Chaldees: dwell in the land, and serve the
king of Babylon; and it shall be well with you.
[25] But it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, came, and ten men with
him, and smote Gedaliah, that he died, and the Jews and the Chaldees that
were with him at Mizpah.
[26] And all the people, both small and great, and the captains of the
armies, arose, and came to Egypt: for they were afraid of the Chaldees.

The Proclamation of Cyrus

The Heavenly Worship

1 (Rev 1:19; 1:10; 11:12) After this I looked. And there was an open door

Australian photographer Christian Spencer has spent more than twenty years taking pictures in the Itatiaia National Park in Brazil. One amazing aspect
of his photography is that he's captured the effect of sunlight passing through the open wings of the hummingbird. He found that the wings create a prism-like rainbow of colors when birds fly between the bright sun
and his camera lens. Other photographers have also captured this
in birds other than just the hummingbird.

Finding rainbows of colors in birds - wings is an example of some of the hidden treasures God has placed in His creation. Such beauty and magnificence can pique our curiosity for what believers in Jesus will observe when they see
Him sitting on His throne. When John saw the heavenly throne in Revelation 4, he must have been mesmerized. He describes Christ on the throne with "a rainbow that shone like an emerald" encircling it (v. 3). Words cannot describe the glory of God that was revealed to the apostle.

As we find hidden treasures in God's creation, may we enjoy each one, knowing there's so much more awaiting us in heaven. There, we will worship our Creator and praise Him forever: "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being" (v. 11).

Week 5 Rejoice in Grace - Day 3 The song of Exaltation

Exodus 15:2

2 The Lord is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.
He is my God, and I will praise Him; my father's God, and I will exalt Him.

2 The LORD is my strength and song, And he is become my salvation:
He is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation;
My father's God, and I will exalt him.

The world is full of music that communicates human emotion:
love, joy, sadness, separation.
A love song makes us misty-eyed; a song of protest arouses anger; a song describing loss stimulates feelings of hurt and abandonment.
Music is a powerful force to sway the human spirit.
Exodus 15:2 indicates that God should be the source of the songs in our hearts. Human emotions vacillate; human relationships disappoint,
but God is our "strength" and our "song".
To exalt the Lord includes many different type of "songs".
"I can't carry a tune in a bucket," one woman complained.
"How can I sing to the Lord anything that will be pleasing to him?"
But the Lord does not delight in the professionalism of our songs,
but in the motivation of our hearts. We can "sing to the Lord"
when we enjoy a Bach organ piece played for his glory.
We can exalt him in the words of Scripture - either remembered or sung.
We can worship him by enjoying the songs of others.
The key to making the Lord our song is exaltation. When our thoughts
lift him up in praise, we are singing a song of exaltation to the Lord.
When God is exalted in our songs, in our hearts, and in our thoughts,
that focus gives strength to our lives. We can face the difficulties
that are an inevitable part of experience,
because God is our "strength and our song".

Moncton, followed by Fredericton and Saint John, each have a growing Muslim population in New Brunswick, In 2007, the building that was formerly a Baptist church was converted into Moncton's 1st mosque. The University of Moncton
also has a Muslim student association hosting prayer services, fellowship getherings, and outreaches on campus.
Fredericton also has one mosque and a Muslim student association serving the campuses of the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University. Fredericton's Muslim population consists in 2014 of about 50 families,
and between 300 to 400 university students.
Saint John is home to the 1st Muslim Association for the province,
which also helped foster the Islamic associations of Fredericton and Moncton.
a 'musalla', or prayer location that is not officially structured as a mosque, has been established in the Uptown area with the intention of seeing it grow into a 2nd official place of Muslim worship. Demand for this new location has been primarily for university students moving into the area.

Pray for Muslims and New Brunswick
- that the eyes of pastors, believers and entire congregations will be opened to see this growing body of Muslims, and their hearts will be opened

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and, of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.
