Day 229, 17 August 2025

Today at Calvary Community Church , Pastor Doug Zeiber spoke on Stormproof PArt 1

Acts 27:1-6

Paul Sails for Rome

1 (Ac 25:25; 10:1; 25:12) When it was decided that we should sail into Italy, they handed Paul and some other prisoners over to a centurion of the Augustan Regiment, named Julius.
2 (Ac 19:29) Boarding a ship from Adramyttium, we put out to sea, meaning
to sail along the coasts of Asia. Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, was with us.
3 (Ac 24:23; 28:16) The next day we landed at Sidon. And Jul-!ius treated Paul kindly and gave him leave to go to his friends and be given care.
4 (Ac 4:36) From there we put out to sea and sailed under the lee of Cyprus, because the winds were against us.
5 (Ac 6:9; 13:13) Sailing across the sea off of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.
6 (Ac 28:11) There the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing to Italy, and he put us on board.

[1] And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they
delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a
centurion of Augustus' band.
[2] And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being
with us.
[3] And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.
[4] And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because
the winds were contrary.
[5] And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.
[6] And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy;
and he put us therein.

A) Understand and receive God's favour.

His grace and undeserved kindness, blessing, help and advantage, freely given to us to enable us to fulfill His purposes and experience His goodness regardless of circumstances(Even in Storms).

Acts 27:7-12

7 (Ac 27:21; 2:11) We sailed slowly for many days, and arrived with difficulty off Cnidus, and as the wind did not allow us to proceed, we sailed under the lee of Crete off Salmone.
8 Sailing past it with difficulty, we came to a place called Fair Havens,
near the city of Lasea.
9 (Lev 23:27-29; Nu 29:7) As much time had been lost and as the voyage was now dangerous, because the Day of Atonement was already over, Paul advised them,
10 saying, "Men, I perceive that this voyage will be with injury and much
loss, not only of the cargo and ship, but also of our lives."
11 But the centurion was persuaded more by the captain and the owner of the ship than by what Paul said.
12 Since the harbor was not suitable to winter in, the majority decided to
sail on from there, if somehow we might reach Phoenix, a harbour in Crete, facing southwest and northwest, and winter there.

[7] And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over
against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over
against Salmone;
[8] And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair
havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.
[9] Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous,
because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,
[10] And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.
[11] Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the
ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.
[12] And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.

Be aware storms will come

2 Corinthians 11:25

25 (Ac 14:19) Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned;
three times I suffered shipwreck; a night and a day I have been in the deep;

[25] Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;

Isaiah 43:2

2 (Ps 66:12; Da 3:25-27) When you pass through waters,
I will be with you.
And through the rivers,
they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire,
you shall not be burned,
nor shall the flame kindle on you.

[2] When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through
the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the
fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

Note Matthew 7 and John 16

REalise there are seasons of storms

Psalm 107:28-29

28 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and He saved them out of their distress.
29 He made the storm calm,
and the sea waves were still.

[28] Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out
of their distresses.
[29] He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

Psalm 30:5

5 (1Ki 3:7; 1Ch 29:1) Now David said, "Solomon my son is young
and inexperienced, and the house that is to be built for the Lord must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and glory throughout all the lands.
Therefore I will make preparation for it now."
So David made extensive preparations before his death.

5 (Ps 42:11; 43:5) For His anger endures but a moment,
in His favor is life;
weeping may endure for a night,
but joy comes in the morning.

C) Choose Wisdom over comfort

The Storm at Sea

13 When a south wind blew gently, supposing that they had obtained the necessary conditions, they weighed anchor and sailed along the shore of Crete. 14 (Mk 4:37) But soon afterward a tempestuous wind swept through, called the Euroclydon.(Or Northeaster.)
15 When the ship was overpowered and could not head into the wind, we let her drift.
16 Drifting under the lee of an island called Cauda, we could scarcely secure the rowboat.
17 (Ac 27:29; 27:26) When they had -!hoisted it aboard, they used ropes to undergird the ship. And fearing that they might run aground on the sand of Syrtis, they let down the mast, and so were driven.

[13] And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.
[14] But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.
[15] And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we
let her drive.
[16] And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:
[17] Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship;
and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.

D) Discern the source and reason for the storm

Jonah was caught in storm by God to stop him running away to Tarshish
from Nineveh

Jesus was crossing the Sea of Galilee only to be caught by the Devil's storm.

The same faith that's at peace in the storm is the faith that speaks to
the storm.

5 anchors:

- Know God's prmises so no matter the source of the storm we can stand.
- Don't be shocked or caught off guard by other's shortcomings of failures.
- Always walk in gratitude and forgiveness no matter what we're going thru.
- Realise God can redeem any situation
- Live a life of praise and worship.

Preview to Part 2

18 (Jnh 1:5; Ac 27:38) We were violently tossed by the storm. The next day
they threw cargo overboard.
19 On the third day we threw the tackle of the ship overboard with our own hands.
20 When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small storm was upon us, all hope that we should be saved was lost.

[18] And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;
[19] And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the
ship.
[20] And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small
tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

Jeremiah 35,36,37

Jeremiah 35
The Rekabites' Obedience
1 (2Ki 23:35; Jer 1:3) The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord
in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying:
2 (1Ch 2:55; 9:26) Go to the house of the Rekabites and speak to them,
and bring them into the house of the Lord, into one of the chambers,
and give them wine to drink.
3 Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah,
and his brothers and all his sons and the whole house of the Rekabites,
4 (Dt 33:1; 2Ki 12:9) and I brought them into the house of the Lord,
into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God,
which was by the chamber of the officials, which was above the chamber
of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door.
5 (Am 2:12) Then I set before the sons of the house of the Rekabites
pots full of wine and cups, and I said to them, "Drink wine."
6 (2Ki 10:15; Lev 10:9) But they said, "We will drink no wine. For Jonadab
the son of Rekab our father commanded us, saying,
'You shall not drink wine, neither you nor your sons forever.
7 (Ge 25:27; Ex 20:12) You shall not build a house, sow seed,
plant a vineyard, nor own one; but all your days you shall dwell in tents
so that you may live many days in the land where you sojourn.'
8 (Col 3:20; Pr 1:8-9) Thus we have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son
of Rekab, our father, in all that he has charged us, to drink no wine all
our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters,
9 (1Ti 6:6; Ps 37:16) nor to build houses for us to dwell in;
and we do not have vineyard, or field, or seed.
10 But we have lived in tents only and have obeyed and done according
to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.
11 (Jer 8:14; 2Ki 24:1-2) But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon
came up into the land, we said, 'Come, and let us go to Jerusalem
before the army of the Chaldeans and before the army of the Arameans.'
So we have dwelt in Jerusalem."
12 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying:
13 (Jer 5:3; 32:33) Thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel:
Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
Will you not receive instruction by listening to My words? says the Lord.
14 (Isa 30:9; Jer 7:13) The words of Jona-!dab the son of Rekab, that
he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed.
For to this day they drink none, but they obey their father's commandment. However, I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking,
but you did not obey Me.
15 (Jer 18:11; 25:5-6) I also have sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, "Return now every man
from his evil way and amend your deeds, and do not go after other gods
to serve them, and you will dwell in the land that I have given to you
and to your fathers." But you have not inclined your ear nor obeyed Me.
16 (Mal 1:6; Jer 35:14) Indeed, the sons of Jonadab the son of Rekab
have performed the commandment of their father, which he commanded
them, but this people has not obeyed Me.
17 (Isa 65:12; 66:4) Therefore thus says the Lord God of Hosts, the God
of Israel: I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the disaster that I have pronounced against them; because I have spoken
to them but they have not listened, and I have called them
but they have not answered.
18 (Ex 20:12; Eph 6:1-3) Jeremiah said to the house of the Rek-!abites:
Thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel: Because you have obeyed
the commandment of Jonadab your father and kept all his precepts
and done according to all that he has commanded you,
19 (Jer 15:19; 1Ch 2:55) therefore thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God
of Israel, Jonadab the son of Rekab shall not lack a man to stand
before Me always.

Jeremiah 35
[1] The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of
Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,
[2] Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.
[3] Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habaziniah, and
his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites;
[4] And I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the
sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was by the chamber
of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum,
the keeper of the door:
[5] And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of
wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink ye wine.
[6] But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your
sons for ever:
[7] Neither shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any: but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days
in the land where ye be strangers.
[8] Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives,
our sons, nor our daughters;
[9] Nor to build houses for us to dwell in: neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed:
[10] But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.
[11] But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into
the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the
army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians: so we dwell
at Jerusalem.
[12] Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
[13] Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to my words? saith the LORD.
[14] The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not
to drink wine, are performed; for unto this day they drink none, but obey
their father's commandment: notwithstanding I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye hearkened not unto me.
[15] I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and
amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me.
[16] Because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father, which he commanded them; but this people hath
not hearkened unto me:
[17] Therefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold,
I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the
evil that I have pronounced against them: because I have spoken unto them,
but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.
[18] And Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith the LORD
of hosts, the God of Israel; Because ye have obeyed the commandment of
Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according unto all that he hath commanded you:
[19] Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Jonadab the
son of Rechab shall not want a man to stand before me for ever.

Jeremiah 36

Jeremiah's Scroll Is Burned

1 (Jer 25:1) In the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah,
king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying:
2 (Jer 30:2; 25:3; Ex 17:14) Take a scroll of a book, and write in it
all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel
and against Judah and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah, even to this day.
3 (Jer 18:8; 26:3; Eze 12:3) It may be that the house of Judah will hear
all the disaster which I intend to do to them, so that every man
may turn from his evil way; then I will forgive their iniquity and their sin.
4 (Jer 32:12; 36:32) Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah.
And Baruch wrote on a scroll at the dictation of Jeremiah
all the words of the Lord which He had spoken to him.
5 (Jer 32:2; 33:1) Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying,
"I am shut in. I cannot go into the house of the Lord.
6 (Jer 36:8-9) Therefore go and read from the scroll that you have written
at my dictation the words of the Lord in the hearing of the people
in the house of the Lord on a fast day. And also you shall read them
in the ears of all Judah who come out of their cities.
7 (Jer 36:3; 2Ki 22:13) Perhaps their supplication will come before the Lord, and everyone will turn from his evil way, for great is the anger
and the fury that the Lord has pronounced against this people."
8 (Jer 1:17) Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah
the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the Lord
in the house of the Lord.
9 (2Ch 20:3; Est 4:16) In the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah,
king of Judah, in the ninth month, they proclaimed a fast
before the Lord to all the people in Jerusalem and to all the people
who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem.
10 (Jer 36:11; 26:10) Then Baruch read from the book the words of Jeremiah
in the house of the Lord, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan
the scribe, in the higher court, at the entry of the New Gate of the house
of the Lord, in the ears of all the people.
11 When Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard
out of the book all the words of the Lord,
12 (Jer 26:22; 2Ki 22:12) then he went down to the king's house,
into the scribe's chamber. And all the officials sat there, even Elishama
the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Akbor,
and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zed-!ekiah the son of Hananiah,
and all the other officials.
13 (2Ki 22:10) Then Micaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard when Bar-!uch read the book in the ears of the people.
14 (Jer 36:2) Then all the officials sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah,
the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying,
"Take in your hand the scroll from which you have read in the ears
of the people and come." So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll
in his hand and came to them.
15 They said to him, "Sit down now, and read it in our ears."
So Baruch read it in their ears.
16 (Jer 13:18; 36:24) When they heard all the words, they turned to
one another in fear and said to Baruch, "We will surely tell the king
of all these words."
17 (Jn 9:15) They also asked Baruch, saying, "Tell us now, how did you write all these words? Was it at his mouth?"
18 (Jer 36:4) Then Baruch answered them, "He pronounced all these words
to me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book."
19 (1Ki 17:3; 18:4) Then the officials said to Baruch, "Go hide, you
and Jeremiah, and let no man know where you are."
20 (Jer 36:12) Then they went to the king in the court, but they laid up
the scroll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words
in the ears of the king.
21 (2Ki 22:10; 2Ch 34:18) So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the scroll,
and he took it out of Elishama the scribe's chamber. And Jehudi read it
in the ears of the king and in the ears of all the officials who stood
beside the king.
22 (Am 3:15) Now the king sat in the winter house in the ninth month,
and there was a fire burning on the hearth before him.
23 (1Ki 22:8; 22:27) As Jehudi read three or four columns, the king cut it
with a scribe's knife and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth,
until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.
24 (Ps 36:1; Jer 36:16) Yet they were not afraid, nor did they tear their garments, neither the king nor any of his servants who heard all these words. 25 (Ge 37:22; Jer 36:12) Although Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah
entreated the king not to burn the scroll, yet he would not listen to them.
26 (1Ki 19:1-3; 19:10) But the king commanded Jerahmeel
the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah
the son of Abdeel to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet.
But the Lord hid them.

Jeremiah 36
[1] And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah
king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
[2] Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.
[3] It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose
to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I
may forgive their iniquity and their sin.
[4] Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which he had spoken unto him,
upon a roll of a book.
[5] And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I cannot go into
the house of the LORD:
[6] Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD's house
upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.
[7] It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people.
[8] And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the
prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the LORD in the
LORD's house.
[9] And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah
king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the
LORD to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from
the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.
[10] Then read Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the
higher court, at the entry of the new gate of the LORD's house, in the ears
of all the people.
[11] When Michaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of the LORD,
[12] Then he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber:
and, lo, all the princes sat there, even Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah
the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.
[13] Then Michaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.
[14] Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the
roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch
the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.
[15] And they said unto him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So
Baruch read it in their ears.
[16] Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they were
afraid both one and other, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the
king of all these words.
[17] And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all
these words at his mouth?
[18] Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words unto me with
his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.
[19] Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah;
and let no man know where ye be.
[20] And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll
in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king.
[21] So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll: and he took it out of
Elishama the scribe's chamber. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king,
and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king.
[22] Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.
[23] And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.
[24] Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king,
nor any of his servants that heard all these words.
[25] Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them.
[26] But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the
son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe
and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them.

Jeremiah and Baruch Rewrite the Scroll

27 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah after the king had burned
the book and the words which Baruch had written at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying:
28 (Zec 1:5-6) Take again another scroll and write in it all the former words that were in the first book, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned.
29 (Isa 30:10; Jer 26:9) You shall say to Jehoiakim king of Judah:
Thus says the Lord: You have burned this book, saying,
Why have you written in it that the king of Babylon will certainly come
and destroy this land, and will cause man and beast to cease from here?
30 (Jer 22:30; 2Ki 24:12-15) Therefore thus says the Lord concerning
Jehoiakim king of Judah: He shall have no one to sit on the throne of David. And his dead body shall be cast out to the heat of the day
and the frost of the night.
31 (Pr 29:1; Jer 19:15) I will also punish him and his seed
and his servants for their iniquity. And I will bring upon them
and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem and upon the men of Judah
all the disaster that I have pronounced against them; but they did not listen. 32 (Jer 36:4; 36:18) Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it
to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah who wrote in it from the mouth
of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah
had burned in the fire. And there were added to them many like words.

[27] Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after that the king had
burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
[28] Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.
[29] And thou shalt say to Jehoiakim the king of Judah, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying,
The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall
cause to cease from thence man and beast?
[30] Therefore thus saith the LORD of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.
[31] And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon
the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; but they hearkened not.
[32] Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the
son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there
were added besides unto them many like words.

Jeremiah 37
Jeremiah Warns Zedekiah

1 (2Ki 24:17; Jer 22:24) And King Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned
instead of Koniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
2 (Ki 24:19-20; 2Ch 36:12-16) But neither he nor his servants nor the people
of the land listened to the words of the Lord, which He spoke through
the prophet Jeremiah.
3 (Jer 21:1-2; 1Ki 13:6; Jer 29:25) But Zedekiah the king sent Jehukal
the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah,
the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
"Please pray to the Lord our God for us."
4 (Jer 37:15; 32:2-3) Now Jeremiah was still coming in and going
out among the people, for they had not yet put him into prison.
5 (Eze 17:15; 2Ki 24:7) At that time Pharaoh's army had come out of Egypt,
and when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard the report
of them, they departed from Jerusalem.
6 Then the word of the Lord came to the prophet Jeremiah, saying:
7 (La 4:17; 2Ki 22:18) Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Thus you shall say to the king of Judah who sent you to Me to inquire of Me:
Pharaoh's army which has come out to help you shall return to Egypt,
to its own land.
8 (Jer 38:23; 39:2-8) The Chaldeans will come again and fight against
this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
9 (Ob 1:3; Mt 24:4-5) Thus says the Lord: Do not deceive yourselves,
saying, "The Chaldeans will surely depart from us," for they will not depart. 10 (Lev 26:36-38; Isa 30:17) For though you had struck the whole army
of the Chaldeans who fight against you and there remained
but wounded men among them, yet every man would rise up in his tent
and burn this city with fire.

[1] And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of
Judah.
[2] But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did
hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.
[3] And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah
the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now
unto the LORD our God for us.
[4] Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people: for they had not
put him into prison.
[5] Then Pharoah's army was come forth out of Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem. [6] Then came the word of the LORD unto the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
[7] Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to inquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh's army, which
is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.
[8] And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and
take it, and burn it with fire.
[9] Thus saith the LORD; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart.
[10] For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.

Jeremiah Imprisoned

11 Now when the army of the Chaldeans had withdrawn from Jerusalem
at the approach of Pharaoh's army,
12 (Jer 1:1) Jeremiah set out from Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin
to take possession of his property there among the people.
13 (Jer 38:7; Zec 14:10) When he was in the Gate of Benjamin,
a captain of the guard was there whose name was Irijah
the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah.
And he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
"You are falling away to the Chaldeans!"
14 (Ps 27:12; 52:1-2) But Jeremiah said, "It is false! I am not falling away
to the Chaldeans," but he did not listen to him. So Irijah seized Jeremiah
and brought him to the officials.
15 (Jer 38:26; Ge 39:20) Therefore the officials were wrathful with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe;
for they had made that the prison.
16 (Jer 38:6; 38:10-13) For Jeremiah had entered the dungeon, that is,
the vaulted cell, and Jeremiah had remained there many days.
17 (Jer 21:7; 1Ki 14:1-4) Then Zedekiah the king sent and took him out;
and the king asked him secretly in his house,
and said, "Is there any word from the Lord?"
And Jeremiah said, "There is!" Then he said,
"You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon."
18 (Jn 10:32; Ac 25:8) Moreover Jeremiah said to King Zed-!ekiah,
"How have I sinned against you or against your servants
or against this people that you have put me in prison?
19 (2Ki 3:13; Jer 2:28) Where now are your prophets who prophesied
to you, saying, 'The king of Babylon will not come against you,
nor against this land'?
20 (Jer 36:7) Therefore now please listen, O my lord the king.
Please let my supplication be accepted before you, that you not cause me
to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there."
21 (Jer 38:13; 38:28; 32:2) Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they
should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison and give him daily
a piece of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread
in the city was finished. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.

[11] And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh's army,
[12] Then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of
Benjamin, to separate himself thence in the midst of the people.
[13] And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was
there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and
he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.
[14] Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I fall not away to the Chaldeans. But
he hearkened not to him: so Irijah took Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
[15] Wherefore the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put
him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that
the prison.
[16] When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;
[17] Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And
Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand
of the king of Babylon.
[18] Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me
in prison?
[19] Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king
of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
[20] Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my
supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not
to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
[21] Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into
the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of
bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.

2) Our Daily Bread for 17 August 2025 Titled ODB: JESUS RESCUED US

READ: 1 Peter 2:21-25

The Example of Christ's Suffering

21 (Ac 14:22; Mt 16:24) For to this you were called, because Christ suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:
22 (Isa 53:9; 2Co 5:21) "He committed no sin,
nor was deceit found in His mouth."(Isa 53:9.)
23 (Isa 53:7; Lk 23:46) When He was reviled, He did not revile back; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but He entrusted Himself to Him who judges righteously.
24 (Ro 6:2; 6:11) He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree,
that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness.
"By His wounds you were healed."(Isa 53:5).
25 (Isa 53:6; Ps 119:176)
For you were as sheep going astray, but now have been returned
to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.

[21] For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
[22] Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
[23] Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
[24] Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we,
being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
[25] For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the
Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

Two workers at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station desperately needed medical care. One had suffered a heart attack, and the other was experiencing life-threatening gastric issues. The only way to ensure their recovery was to launch a rescue mission. Due to harsh conditions, however, including darkness and -75 degrees Celsius (-103-#F) temperatures from February to October, planes didn't normally risk flying to the outpost during winter. But the pilots were determined to rescue the workers - and they did, despite enduring a difficult two days of challenging flights.

Stories of rescue are inspiring. The greatest rescue story was when Jesus rescued us from sin. The apostle Peter wrote, "'He himself bore our sins'
in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness" (1 Peter 2:24). He rescued us by bearing our sins in His body. He carried them as a sacrifice-a sacrifice in which he "suffered for you"
and for me (v. 21). On the cross, Christ bore "the curse of the law" (Galatians 3:13) and endured our shame. He was wounded so we might be healed, and He died so that we might be delivered from the penalty and power
of sin (1 Peter 2:24; Isaiah 53:5).

How amazing it is to know that we were rescued from our own desperate condition by one who was willing to endure the harshest of conditions for us!

What does the rescue Christ provided mean to you?
How can you help others experience it?

Week 5 Rejoice in Grace - Day 1 Call to the Lord - 2 Samuel 22:3-4

3 (Ge 15:1; Ps 9:9) the God of my strength, in whom I will trust;
my shield and the horn of my salvation,
my fortress and my sanctuary;
my Savior, You save me from violence.
4 (Ps 48:1; 96:4) I call upon the Lord, who is praiseworthy,
and I am saved from my enemies.

3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust:
He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge,
My saviour; thou savest me from violence.
4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised:
So shall I be saved from mine enemies.

In the old Days of Television Western, we could always tell who the enemy was. The bad guys wore black hats; the evil villain had a scar across
his cheek or a patch over one eye. But real life is
not quite so simple . Enemies come in many forms, and often are not easy to recognise. Sin is an enemy; even those we love can seek
to undermine our faith;
modern materialism and distorted values lead us away from biblical principles. These enemies may not seek our death in a physical sense,
but their influence results in spiritual death or, at the very least, immaturity.
Yet God promises to rescue us from our enemies. David describes the Lord as a "rock", a "shield", a "stronghold", and a "refuge". God provides a stable foundation for our faith; he products us from the attacks of the enemy;
he offers a place of rest in battle.
Our battles are usually not physical ones, but rather spiritual
and emotional wars.
We struggle with difficult relationships, the burdens of the past,
the subtle accusations of the devil.
But these enemies can be overcome. David says,
"I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise" .
When we turn to the Lord, trust his Word, acknowledge his
worthiness, we put our own problems and difficulties in perspective.
We see that God is able to rescue us, and has promised to do so.
And as we respond to his grace by focusing
on him, we abandon trust in ourselves and allow him to do what he promised.

Application

a) What kinds of enemies do I face?

b) How have I tried to deal with those enemies by myself?

c) How can today's verses help me turn to the sources of my rescue?

4) From Prosperity Promises - Kenneth Copeland

Luke 6:38

38 "Give, and it will be given to you: Good measure, pressed down,
shaken together, and running over will men give unto you.
For with the measure you use, it will be measured unto you."

38 give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down,
and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For
with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

When you are Burdened by Doubt

Proverbs 30:5

5 Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.

5 Every word of God is pure:
He is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

The Lord's prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

9 "Therefore pray in this manner:
Our Father who is in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.
10 (Mt 3:2; 4:17) Your kingdom come;
Your will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
11 (Pr 30:8; Isa 33:16) Give us this day our daily bread.
12 (Ex 34:7; Ps 32:1) And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
13 (1Co 10:13; Jn 17:15) And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

6) This come from Praying for Muslims in Canada 2015 (Is there a 2021 edition?)

New Brunswick

Total population 753900
Muslim population (est.) 4543

Moncton, followed by Fredericton and Saint John, each have a growing Muslim population in New Brunswick, In 2007, the building that was formerly a Baptist church was converted into Moncton's 1st mosque. The University of Moncton
also has a Muslim student association hosting prayer services, fellowship getherings, and outreaches on campus.
Fredericton also has one mosque and a Muslim student association serving the campuses of the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University. Fredericton's Muslim population consists in 2014 of about 50 families,
and between 300 to 400 university students.
Saint John is home to the 1st Muslim Association for the province,
which also helped foster the Islamic associations of Fredericton and Moncton.
a 'musalla', or prayer location that is not officially structured as a mosque, has been established in the Uptown area with the intention of seeing it grow into a 2nd official place of Muslim worship. Demand for this new location has been primarily for university students moving into the area.

Pray for Muslims and New Brunswick
- that the eyes of pastors, believers and entire congregations will be opened to see this growing body of Muslims, and their hearts will be opened
to sharing God's love in Jesus Christ with them

- that intentional ministries to Muslims will grow and flourish in these
areas of concentration

- that cooperative CNNMM Networks will form to really, encourage,
and equip believers to lovingly reach Muslims in this province.

Adding further

30 days of prayer for the Muslim World 24 April to 23 May 2020

Under the Keep Praying page

When the new moon is sighted it marks the beginning of t he new Islamic month and Eid al-Fitr, the "Festival of Breaking the Fast", will start! After 30 days of fasting, the Eid celebration at the end of Ramadan is a joyful time that usually lasts about 3 days. Muslims will buy new clothes, exchange gifts and, of course, enjoy special foods. In Muslim-majority nations, the streets may be decorated and festivals will be held.
For many Muslims, Eid-al-Fitr begins with communal prayers at daybreak and the distribution of money (zakat) to the poor, which is one of the 5 pillars of Islam.
You can greet Muslim friends during this time by saying "Eid Mubarak",
which means Blessed Eid!"
Ramadan is over for this year, but you can continue to pray for Muslims you know, and Muslims around the world:
- Despite the unsettling developments in our world today that involve actions in the name of Islam, there is at the same time a largely untold story about unprecedented movement to Christ among Muslims. There have been more such movements of thousands or more new disciples among Muslims in the last three decades or so than in all the previous history of Christian Muslim relationships! Pray for this momentum to continue.

Acts 2:12-17 : 17 12 They were all amazed and perplexed, saying to each other, "What does this mean?"
13 (1Co 14:23) Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

Peter's Speech at Pentecost

14 (Ac 1:26) But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice
and said to them, "Men of Judea and all you who dwell in Jerusalem,
let this be known to you, and listen to my words.
15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose,
since it is the third hour of the day.
16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17 (Isa 44:3; Ac 10:45) 'In the last days it shall be,' says God,
'that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams.'

- Pray for Christian workers an organisations focused on seeing effective discipleship movements among Muslim people.

- Ask the Holy Spirit to continue to inspire you to have god's heart for Muslims, to see them as He does, and to be the light that then to Jesus.

Matthew 5:14-15 : 14 "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under
a basket, but on a candlestick. And it gives light to all who are in the house."

Ideas for prayer

- Pray for opportunities to show the love of Christ to Muslims around you
- Pray for, and offer generous hospitality to, those you know who are serving Christ among Muslim people -

Romans 12:13 "contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."
- When you gather with fellow believers, remember to pray for Muslims throughout the year and encourage them to also participate in 30 Days!

And

Thank you for praying through the
5 Days of Prayer for Sikhs.

"My name is Kam. I'm 29 years of age, and I grew up Sikh. As a teenager,
I struggled with depression, brokenness, and addiction to
cannabis. I didn't know how to stop or how to get help.

Then a friend invited me to church. As I spent time with Christians
and heard the message of the Gospel, I experienced the
love of Jesus Christ, and it was like nothing I'd known before.
One night I had a dream where I saw Him - a figure surrounded by
light who I knew was Jesus, the light of the world.

As I began to understand the gospel message, I encountered a reassuring and confident solution to the problem of sin. I knew that I needed a solution
to my sin problem, and I gave my life to Christ.

Slowly, God began to heal my broken heart and my addiction.
Nine years have passed, and I am a devoted husband and a father
to two beautiful boys. I grow deeper in love with Jesus each day.

I ask you to continue praying with me, and others around the world, for Sikhs. God is the only one who can draw people to Himself. He works in and through the prayers of His people. I want Sikhs to know the freedom
and healing that is only available through Jesus Christ."

13 (Ro 14:17; 12:12) Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy
and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope,
through the power of the Holy Spirit.

[13] Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that
ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

ROMANS 15:13
