If somebody offed Vladimir Putin, I would not experience a
microinstant of regret for his death, but I would be afraid
that whoever takes his place might be an even worse asshole.
Trump is the same kind of monster as Putin, and if somebody
killed him I would have the same emotional reactions.

What I fear is the tidal wave of
things getting named after Trump like
he was a founding father. They are
already trying to rename the Kennedy
Center and Dulles Airport after him,
you can imagine all the red states
doing likewise. Locally we are stuck
with the Bush Airport and the Bush
Turnpike and the Buch Freeway. And
he was a lackluster one termer who
never had a cult following.

Why do you think coal and oil came to dominate the energy
field? There is more energy with these plus natural gas
than anything else except nuclear. Windmills are not
efficient and impact the environment in unexpected ways.
Solar is cumbersome, expensive, and only works on a small
scale. Geothermal is also very expensive and localized.
Do you know of any large area where any "green" energy has
been sufficient other than possibly some small European
country that cannot be an analog for the US or any larger
country.
Coal, oil, and LNG can be transported to areas where energy
is needed much easier than wind, sunlight, or geothermal.
That is why EV may be useful in an urban setting but who
would pile their family in one and drive from Chicago to
Disneyland?
I would point out we have not shifted from fossil fuel to
"green" in any significant numbers and we are having trouble
with our grid under current conditions. Not to mention the
projected need for future growth such as AI.
