Again, sorry to hear that Nova BBS is defunct, but happily, you and the JLA Forums staff are keeping Usenet alive and well, MummyChunk.
I am just another poster like you and the others here. I'm sure the folks that run JLA would enjoy hearing your appreciation for their efforts on running the site over the past 20 or so years. You should send them a PM as they might not see your comments among the other 678 million posts that they have on the site.

I spoke to the admin here at JLA and they mentioned that if NovaBBS
doesn't continue to function and if any USENET groups that are not
available here at JLA, just make a request in this thread and they
will add them.
They would also be glad to host Nova if no one else is going to take
it up.
Just let them know I guess.
Any further word on this, MummyChunk?
I did see a thread in another section here where it was being
discussed. I think no one involved with Nova BBS was able to be
reached.
Perhaps Retro Guy's widow would have the information and after some
time would be willing to allow his work to be continued.
JLA Forums has shown an interest.
No, Mummy Chunk confirmed my statement.
HTH and HAND.
Has anyone actually spoken to anyone still associated with what remains of Nova BBS??

Hello again MummyChunk, is JLA Forums having a problem today?
I haven't been able to connect there, today.
I'm using another Usenet newsgroup portal and it seems to be working fine, so I think the problem may be with JLA Forums.
