put out a CQ call, the band would be positively buzzing with activity!
If you want the current situation to change in your area, then it might
be a good idea to support and participate in initiatives to encourage

If you really want to promote activity on a dead 2m band, just have a
long QSO (a 'pretend' QSO if necessary) on the calling frequency.
You'll have everyone within earshot leaping up and telling you, in no >uncertain terms, to QSY.
