I think I can see how handling colors would be closely related to the
OS. I often wonder about such stuff. Just now, I opened a broken
Hamilton Beach microwave, with a Walmart label on the back, and all the >parts, even the little ones, were the same and in the same place as the
GE microwave I fixed last year. (That one just had a blown thermal fuse.
This one has sparking and the plastic window into the cooking chamber,
which is right next to the microwave tube, is browned and bulging out
    over 1/2 x 3/4 x 3/4 inch, so I think it's a gonner.

Caution: OT post. Readers not interested in the topic will waste 3
minutes of their lives and become confused and disoriented.

According to this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60PoUf-u8Vk ,
sparking at the magnetron can be repaired 95% of the time by replacing
the waveguide, which is the "plastic" cover I referred to, and they are
easy to remove and replace and cost only 5.50 to 15 dollars on Amazon.
And they are not plastic but -- I had forgotten the word -- mica.

The waveguide in the video is barely dirty but does have a tiny spot
that is damaged. It's not bulging out at all like mine is. (I found
mine sitting on a neighbor's garbage can.)

I don't think Hamilton Beach or Walmart are major brands that will be
listed, but this one says you can cut it to fit with scissors. $7.59 for
4 sheets. Rated 4.6 stars, and you have to know that some Amazon
customers don't know how to use scissors. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q81M72Z/ref=sspa_dk_detail_4

But even cheaper without scissors or fewer sheets, though expect to fail
    with the first sheet. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=waveguide+hamilton+beach&i=appliances&crid=12WX5JGCUWV0F&sprefix=waveguide+hamilton+be%2Cappliances%2C603&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

I think the problem might start when you let the waveguide get dirty
with splatters and, oh yes, that would make it get hot there because the
dirt would be food that absorbs mw heat. Hey, my mother was right. I
    should keep things clean.

Yes, I knoow this is off topic for firefox, but it's a follow-up and I
figure that techies are interested in all this stuff.

"This price is exclusively for Amazon Prime members" but the non-Prime
price is only 40 cents more! Still, any difference in price is a
departure from past practice. They must be tired of people like me, who
when there is a rush, like just before I go on a long trip, join for the
free 30 days and then quit before I have to pay. They've let me do this
5 times. I kept expecting them to say "You've had your free trial twice already. No more." This is the closest they've come.

"It comes with its own scissors!!! but I would use a utility knife or
razor blade to cut it. It is brittle, shreds and tears easy. [because
it's mica.] The final product worked perfectly"

They used to use a fan at the top to spread the microwaves around. How
does the mica work? Though they use the word "guide" do they mean
scatter? Apparently not. According to https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=how+do+microwave+oven+waveguides+work
the sheet of mica is not the waveguide, it's just the cover at the end
iiuc. Why is it made of mica? Oh, well. As long as it works.

I have no room for a second microwave, but I learned something very good
by taking in this piece of junk. (Junk is trash that continues to have a
    use.)
