From Cursitor Doom@21:1/5 to All on Sat Dec 21 14:09:54 2024
My Agent newsreader has developed an annoying trait which I cannot
seem to find a setting to correct. The screenshot below shows how it's displaying messages. They *should* all be nested under the original
subject title, but they're all expanded which is making it really
difficult to follow who's posted when:

    https://disk.yandex.com/i/7gqKvLkrz4NRlQ

Anyone know where the setting for this is, please?

    Thanks,

    CD.

You are more than likely right, since it wasn't like this a week or so
ago and it's very easy to accidentally enter a shortcut and Agent
makes *much* use of them. Too much, it seems!

click the subject header to sort by subject.
    clicking again reverses order.

You seem to be sorting by date.

    . . . . or that's the way headers usually work.

You probably don't want this view to take up the
entire agent window - select multipage on top rt hand corner (next to
    date header.

I cropped that image to the relevant pane for clarity.
Anyway, your suggestion has worked, so many thanks indeed.

You reminded me I have AGENT V 4.1 ! - been 2012 since last used
it. Clicking on "Lines" seems to bring up a nesting option

Yes, indeed. That does work and I did actually thank legg for
suggesting it but for some reason the post doesn't seem to have
appeared. Not the only recent post I've made that simply disappeared
into the ether. Probably something to do with Bill Sloman. ;->

Cursitor Doom's grasp of reality does seem to be fading away.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usenet_newsgroup

makes it clear that posts to one instance of a user-group get passed on
to all the others. It's one more application of the original Arpanet idea

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARPANET

If Cursitor Doom's posts "disappear into the ether", he didn't put them
in properly in the first place. Once the data packet has been launched
into the internet you don't know how it will get to it's intended
destination which makes it pretty much impossible to block it.
