It is reported that overall college enrollment is down
by five percent.
It is also reported that students are increasingly
reporting political/ideological concerns when they
choose a school.
The slight downturn in raw enrollment likely revolves
around PRICE - tight money and a desire to avoid debts.
The ribbon is off the student-loan stuff now, too many
horror stories even for Halloween. Joeflation has cut
into many 'middle class' budgets, meaning smaller
college funds. This cuts-off a certain segment.
DO note the RISE in enrollment at 'trade schools'
however. Cheaper to attend and these days often
higher pay than liberal arts types right off
the bat. The 'hands-on'/'doing-stuff' professions
also have a native appeal.
The 'political' aspect is not unexpected after a number
of years of political turmoil and 'activism' not seen
since the 1960s.
Jewish students are avoiding certain large schools where
there was/is serious antisemitic sentiment and even
physical attacks on Jewish students. Others refuse a
school based on general left/right lines or even local
abortion laws and such.
The 'Ivy League' is reported to have lost some
large traditional donors, esp after the pro-Hamas
fanatics took over. For some ANTIFA was enough to
pull the plug. Some big donors are funding the
creation of new schools that are less politics and
more real ed. They are actively wooing profs from
the older schools.
