. . .
The skinny ... the southwest-central states - NM, Colorado,
Arizona, NM - are expected to have well ABOVE normal temps.
This also goes for southern Florida. The further northeast
is also expected to (relatively) cook
NOWHERE on the continental map is LOWER temps - those are
reserved for Hawaii. Obama can wear shorts and a colorful
shirt.
We are in a la-Nina/el-Nino transition period. El-Nino
was weak and very brief ... but la-Nina hasn't completely
taken over either.
LOOKS like, long term, el-Nino is just OVER. Blame what
you will, but this seems to be the thing. Ocean hot
spots are apparently MOVING - well west. Effects are
not yet fully calculated (hey, it's DIFFICULT).
A constant la-Nina is NOT such a bad thing for
the USA. It would bring kinda "normal" climate
to most of the country. WILL tend to steer
hurricanes to the Gulf coast alas - Brownsville
to Pensacola.
In any case, don't believe in "normal". Nature
has LOTS of tricks - usually following very
LONG term cycles. 100 years from now we MAY
see strong el-Nino/la-Nina again ... maybe.
