after urgent warning they could catch fire
Batteries sold at retailers like Walmart and Costco have been
recalled after it was discovered they could catch fire.
Sublue, which is known for its underwater scooters and drones,
issued the battery recall on March 13 due to safety concerns.
'We've recently discovered a safety issue in the Sublue Mix
underwater scooter batteries manufactured between June 2018
and March 2024, involving the battery pack overheating and
igniting,' a recall notice from Sublue read.
'Out of an abundance of caution, we're proactively launching
a recall program to upgrade all affected users to a new
generation of safer batteries, completely free of charge.'
The company confirmed around 40,370 units of its Sublue Mix
underwater scooters and replacement battery products were
part of the recall.
The affected batteries are black and used for Sublue's MIXAW01,
MIXAB01, and MIXSB01 scooter models.

LiPo batteries are always a risk - and don't count
on the alleged China maker's name on the box to
assure quality.
Hey, I always use my laptop with a little tabloid
newspaper under it ... in part because it improves
fan cooling but mostly as a barrier in case the batts
go off and try to burn my balls off. HAD LiPo's do
that to me before, NO clear reason.
A Chinese EV firm claims to have perfected, and is
making, a new battery variant ... LiPo-Phosphate ...
that can be recharged VERY fast, promising them in
their e-SUVs by the end of the year. However I did
not hear if they were more resistant to exploding.
Other techs have been claimed - and then vanish
because lab samples cannot be scaled-up to production.
ANYway - if you bought any of those things, DO hurry
to return the batteries. There have been numerous
deaths do to exploding LiPo batts - mostly e-scoots
people bring into their houses to recharge.
