• [OT] USA v Canada: 4 Nations Final

From Blueshirt@21:1/5 to All on Thu Feb 20 21:18:31 2025
Anyone here going to watch this?

I see the US President, Donald Trump, sent the USA hockey team a
good luck message for tonight's game... so much for a "Mickey
    Mouse" tournament!

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/nhl/article-14417495/Donald-Trump-fire-Team-USA-Four-Nations-final-Canada.html

Although, all fifty states of the USA in a game against the
fifty-first state seems like a bit of an unfair match up to
    me... :-)

I'm sure the TV ratings for this will be high though!

It's rare that I'd support a team playing in red and white but
I'll go against the grain tonight and support the True North in
    this one.

    Good luck Canada!

Probably not a big deal in the USA, more people there will be watching
WWE or Monster trucking or bowling or whatever they watch? I am sure it
will be a big deal here on the Iceberg though. I missed the first game,
but apparently there were a few "skirmishes".

It does bother me that the USA is better than Kanada at the Ice hockey

They'll say they don't care, but they do.

I hope President Trump didn't choke whilst he was watching the
    broadcast.

It was more controlled tonight. And the better team won.

It does bother me that the USA is better than Kanada at the Ice hockey

    In their dreams.

They haven't got anyone like Connor McDavid, just a bunch of punks like
    Matthew Tkachuk.

I wonder if Donald Trump sent a message of congratulations to
    the Canadian Prime Minister?

I saw 2 periods, and I would agree. Canadians more cohesive and
adventurous, but also more error prone. Americans more methodical and
    careful.

It does bother me that the USA is better than Kanada at the Ice hockey

    In their dreams.

They haven't got anyone like Connor McDavid,

Or Nathan McKinnon. Or Cale Makar.

Matthews was pretty anonymous this series.

On the other hand the US has a lot of very reliable players, and
probably overall a better set of defencemen and goalies than Canada does.

just a bunch of punks like
    Matthew Tkachuk.

He's a punk alright when on the ice, but, based on interviews when he
was in Calgary, a likeable punk when he is on your side. Pretty good
set of hands too, if he would stick to hockey. Still, he came by it
honestly as his dad was the same way.

I believe they call it Governor?

You have to be humble in defeat...

Does Trump have a World Cup sitting on his desk? I saw a clip of him
sitting at his desk, I assume in the Whitehouse and it looked like a
FIFA WC was on the desk.

Very possibly. When Donald Trump was giving a speech the other
night, among the dignitaries in the front row alongside Elon
Musk and the Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, sat
    a certain Gianni Infantino...

Plus the next FIFA World Cup is in North America, so expect to
see Donald Trump at a game or two.

But his fan base would hate that he likes/watches the soccer.
