For all the talk of how the new system was going to revamp the
competition I can't help but think that the teams who were eliminated at
the first stage were pretty much the teams you'd have expected to be
    eliminated before the competition started.

The only real "surprises" were Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester
City and PSG not finishing in the top 8, but they live to fight another
day, so it's all a bit zzzzz.......?

The "revamp" was more about making sure the big teams got more
money, heading off any chance of a European "Super League"
taking off... whilst ensuring that the big teams still made it
    through to the knock-out stage.

Nobody expected any real shocks... although Pep's boys came
    close to giving us one.

And at the other end of the table, what did the bottom six teams
get out of the revamp? For them it doesn't seem to have done
much... apart from giving the goalie's bad backs from bending
over to pick the ball out of the net!
