    a quite serious football culture, a decent domestic
    league (28th in the UEFA ranking in 2023/24, just
    three places behind the Allsvenskan in 25th), and
    an awful lot of oil money being poured into top-
    notch stadia and facilities, being relegated to the
    very bottom of Nations League D, and being replaced
    in League C by San Marino.

    Yes, they actually played for staying in C.
    Some wrongly said "Azerbaijan had nothing to play for".
