I don't remember that topic at all.

your post, Dean, on Jan 1, 2007:

1956: Looking back on 1956 is almost encouraging, believe it or not. At
the time, rock & roll was almost looking like a passing fad. Chuck Berry
    was treading water between "Maybellene" ('55) and "Johnny B.Goode"('58);
Little Richard was biding his time between "Tutti Frutti" ('55) and
"Lucille" ('57). Elvis had shocked the nation on TV, but he was still
rock's Vanilla Ice. Buddy Holly cut a couple of minor singles, but
"That'll Be the Day" wouldn't hit until '57. Roy Orbison began his
career, too, but he wasn't much use until 1960 or so. The charts were
dominated by pop vocal shit. In general, it was a slow year, but it was building to something big. Kinda makes you hopeful, doesn't it?

If your idea of "treading water" includes "Roll Over Beethoven," "School Day," "Rock & Roll Music," and "Sweet Little Sixteen."

Little Richard was biding his time between "Tutti Frutti" ('55) and
    "Lucille" ('57).

Oh, yeah! Who needs pedestrian crap like "Long, Tall Sally," "Rip It
Up," "Slippin' and Slidin'," "Ready Teddy," and "The Girl Can't Help
    It?"

Elvis had shocked the nation on TV, but he was still
    rock's Vanilla Ice.

What loser wrote this idiocy? And why the hell did I link to it?

What the hell were you thinking?
