    20 FAVE DUET RECORDS

    TODAY........FROM 1955

    1. THE WALLFLOWER – ETTA JAMES (RICHARD BERRY) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRAeOnuuAFU

Also known as “Roll With Me Henry”—GREAT answer record on Modern to the huge “Work With Me Annie” r&b hit

    2. FEEL SO GOOD – SHIRLEY & LEE
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z24gUdjYpQ

One of their very biggest hits on Aladdin #2 BBr&b (on the chart for 25
    weeks!)

    3. NO NEED ACTING LIKE THAT – MAMIE REE (YOUNG WOLF) (UNRELEASED) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wi2K3x-sQd0

Great Mamie Ree duet with sometime hubby bandleader Gus Jinkins (alias
    Young Wolf) recorded for Combo

    4. TELEPHONE BOOGIE – JOHNNY “GUITAR” WATSON & JEANNIE BARNES (UNRELEASED)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7URYwf1RH9c

Great r&b duet recorded for Johnny Otis’ Dig outfit by the couple in
    1955

    5. WILL YOU LOVE ME – MARVIN & JOHNNY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLNSjYSPxY8

On Modern label this was Marvin & Johnny's best single of the year IMO

    6. AIN’T THAT RIGHT – MARVIN & JOHNNY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfPvUStFp1s

Excellent Bo Diddley style rocker on Modern label from the prolific duo

    7. DU WADA DU – BIP & BOP
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfX0kwvsQWQ

Billy Guy & Emmanuel Perez = Bip & Bop on a catchy number on Aladdin

Another unreleased gem by the duo again recorded for Jake Porter’s Combo outfit

Solid duet from Lloyd Rowe and Willie Egan on West Coast Mambo label

    10. DING DONG BABY – MARVIN & JOHNNY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9bMjO8gPBM

Throwback single on their previous label (Specialty) released in July
    1955

real popular with the Moondogs’ crowd

    15. I GOTTA HAVE YOU – CLYDE McPHATTER & RUTH BROWN https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIxTl1Xpjeo

It’s good but not sensational. Meaning that a duet on Atlantic from
these two SHOULD really top a list like this!!!

    16. SOMETIMES I WONDER – MARVIN & JOHNNY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvL2lPhlrIw

Catchy r&b number on Modern that was their first release of 1955

    18. OH GEE OH WEE – CHARLIE & RAY
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCEjZk6KF30

It’s those “I Love You Madly” guys back with their best record on Herald for 1955 IMO

    19. I DON’T BELIEVE YOU’VE MET MY BABY – THE LOUVIN BROTHERS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Adxa0yFkcBU

Great Mamie Ree duet with sometime hubby bandleader Gus Jinkins (alias

Never thought of it as a duet, but I guess that Gus is singing harmony throughout.

    4. TELEPHONE BOOGIE – JOHNNY “GUITAR” WATSON & JEANNIE BARNES (UNRELEASED)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7URYwf1RH9c

Great r&b duet recorded for Johnny Otis’ Dig outfit by the couple in

My music labtop is off, but I don't think I have this. Missed it
    somehow.

    5. WILL YOU LOVE ME – MARVIN & JOHNNY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLNSjYSPxY8

On Modern label this was Marvin & Johnny's best single of the year IMO

    Definitely.

    7. DU WADA DU – BIP & BOP
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfX0kwvsQWQ

Billy Guy & Emmanuel Perez = Bip & Bop on a catchy number on Aladdin

Don't remember if I have this, but it's very good. It's got that Aladdin
    sound like Gene & Eunice.

    9. DON’T KNOW WHERE SHE WENT – LLOYD & WILLIE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIBc-mWzGww

    Video unavailable
    This video is not available

    This works - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNa8T9UG3TM

Don't think I have this either. I've got some things to add to my 1955
    list here.

    14. LOVE ME - JIMMY LEE & WAYNE WALKER https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DydcqwR_bc

Rare country bopper (not the Elvis song) on Chess label that was always
real popular with the Moondogs’ crowd

Don't remember having this, but I might. This isa great post for me,
several really good records that I either did not know or did not pay
    enough attention to.

    17.YAKETY YAK – MAC & JAKE
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMA133JPEM

Here’s Sun artist Malcolm Yelvington moonlighting along with Jake Myles

    This video isn't available anymore

    This works - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMA133JPEMg

Don't think much of this. Good bass, but the rest of it is dumb.

    18. OH GEE OH WEE – CHARLIE & RAY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCEjZk6KF30

It’s those “I Love You Madly” guys back with their best record on Herald

Famous country duo’s biggest (and catchiest) hit on Capitol #1 BBc&w

    11 ¦ Feel So Good ¦ Shirley & Lee

#50 on my faves list and rated 9

13 ¦ No Need Acting Like That ¦ Mamie Ree

    #68 - 8

53 ¦ Will You Love Me ¦ Marvin & Johnny

    #133 - 8

66 ¦ Bring It To Jerome ¦ Bo Diddley (You forgot this, Roger)

SHIT!!!! Yes I did (and likewise "Say Man" later on too) This would top
    my
    1955 Fave Duets list too. #18 - 9

    114 ¦ The Wallflower ¦ Etta James

    #33 - 9

    148 ¦ Mr. Fiddle ¦ Cochran Brothers

Just a 6 for me. Really not a big favorite with me

199 ¦ I'd Love To Love You ¦ Brownie McGhee & Sonny Terry

Credited just to "Brownie McGhee" and I only hear the one vocal so not a
    duet.
#421 - 7 on my list but I prefer the "Maybellene" ripoff on the other
side "Anna Mae" (also not duet) - #304 - 7

    305 ¦ Caught ¦ Mamie Ree & Gus Jenkins

    #148 - 8

322 ¦ Two Blue Singing Stars ¦ Cochran Brothers

Again just a 6 and lower than "Mr Fiddle"

    410 ¦ Sometimes I Wonder ¦ Marvin & Johnny

    #462 - 7

    459 ¦ Let Me Know ¦ Marvin & Johnny

    #804 - 7

    463 ¦ It's Hot ¦ Gene & Billy

    #762 -7

562 ¦ Move It Over, Baby ¦ Gene & Eunice

    High 6

    586 ¦ Du Wada Du ¦ Bip & Bop

    #144 - 8

    Thanks for the "Jerome" correction

I much prefer the original recording to the way they chopped up the 45
back then. It never made sense to me the way the 45 started, like they
were already in the middle of the record. AND THEY WERE! They decided
they wanted it to start with Bo singing rather than Jerome so they moved everything around. I can't even listen to that version anymore now that
I have the actual recording as it was meant to be done.

Yes,I remember you mentioning this here before and I agree the "proper" sequenced recording "as it was meant to be done" sounds much better and
way "more natural" than the "rearranged" version as per the original
    released single.
