The latest ROOTS ROCK RADIO is archived until December 15th at the link below. Here's the playlist:

    1. SAN-HO-ZAY, Freddy King

One Of his very best! Here's where it sits on my 1961 instrumental faves
    list

    1.. Hideaway Freddy King
    2. Last Night Mar-Keys
    3. You Can’t Sit Down Philip Upchurch Combo
    4. San-Ho-Zay Freddy King
    5. Let There Be Drums Sandy Nelson
6.. One Mint Julep Ray Charles
    7. Theme From Dixie Duane Eddy
    8. Surfer’s Stomp Mar-Kets
    9. Jive Harp Tim Whitsett
    10. Stick Shift Duals

    2. SHIRLEY LEE, Ricky Nelson

So many "covers" and remakes fall so VERY way short of the originals
it's always nice to come across one that bucks the trend--as Ricky does
here against the "only-slightly-better" IMO Bobby Lee Trammell original

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbKeB5DnCAc

    9. HANG UP MY ROCK & ROLL SHOES, Chuck Willis

Revived by Jerry Lee Lewis in 1960 but his version can't compare with
the much superior Willis that rates a 9 with me

    13. LOVE YOU SO, Ron Holden & The Thunderbirds

Never really "connected" with this one---I always much preferred the "My
    Babe" flipside

    19. MISERLOU, Dick Dale & The Del-Tones

Another of my fave instrumentals--this time from 1962

    1. Green Onions Booker T. & The MG’s
    2. Misirlou Dick Dale & Del-Tones
    3. Soul Twist King Curtis
    4. Wipe Out Surfaris
    5. Cleo’s Mood Jr Walker & All Stars
    6..Pipeline Chantays
    7. Let’s Go (Pony) Routers
    8. Rinky Dink Dave “Baby” Cortez
    9. Ballad Of Paladin Duane Eddy - 1962
    10.Nut Rocker B.Bumble & Stingers – 1962

    21. DANCE BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOON, The Olympics

Over here Vogue issued this one under the throwback title "Dance With A
Dolly (With A Hole In Her Stocking)" in 1961

    26. PACHUKO HOP, Chuck Higgins

One of my top 1952 instrumentals

    1. Juke Little Walter
    2. Night Train Jimmy Forest
    3. Pachuko Hop Chuck Higgins
    4. X-Temporaneous Boogie Camille Howard
    5. Blow Blow Blow Big Jay McNeely

The vocal flipside on this featuring the future Johnny "Guitar" Watson
    is even better IMO

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XajEUN9NAfA

    28. BE MY BABY, The Ronettes

Reminds me that it'll soon be time to be blasting out some of my
Christmas faves--near the top of which list is always these gals classic version of "Sleigh Ride"

    42. MARY LOU, Ronnie Hawkins & The Hawks

Shame on you Ronnie claiming the writing credit on this classic Young
Jessie song (btw the "Magill" co-writer was Jacqueline Magill--who
Ronnie claimed to have never met--the girlfriend at the time of Morris
    Levy head of Roulette Records)

Brenda's rich and charming Southern (Atlanta) accent when singing,
added to her appeal in my opinion (she grew up poor, which accentuates
accents everywhere - only working-class bred Londoners have that

Tho I wasn't born in London I lived there from an early age long enough

That means you arrived in London as a child, Roger.
Which, yes, means you would more likely have a London accent.

When folk move to an area of the country, or world, that has a
different accent, the adoption of that accent depends on your age.
If you have left high school before moving, your accent likely won't
change much for the rest of your life.

    that is the case.

Your meaning is not clear here, Roger.

My meaning is that over the years I've either met in person or talked
over the phone to most if not all the NYC/NJ members on here both past
and present and found them all to be decent, solid and friendly folk and nowhere near the watery "easily impressed" kind of characters that you
    seem to be portraying

Thans, Roger. Having met you, I can attest that you, too, are decent, solid, and friendly.

So fuck off with your inane sociology, Geoff. It doesn't impress anyone here, which if you had any real sense of actual people you would have figured out long ago.

Roger, is one of only two people in the history of this newsgroup to
have publicly threatened *potential* manslaughter of another member,
after having his ego offended in a *minor* spat arising out of the
quality of a chosen YT link. So much for 'solid'.

Mark Dintenfass (of NYC working-class background I note :), you are a
cowardly foul-mouthed sad case talking pure fiction. And fiction is
something you taught and specialized in for many years at Lawrence,
wasn't it. Going by this post of yours I hope you didn't also teach
spelling or grammar, unless your English powers are fading in your
    twilight years.

Goodness me! (or Deary me, for Roger :-)))

You sure you're not on the spectrum? You seem kind of obsessive. And it's odd that you bother to Google us when you hide behind a mask.

Mark, your disgusting and pathetic post suggests that it's you that
    might have ASD.

In your mind, what am I obsessive about *for no good reason* ?

What is odd about having a security and enigmatic mask on the
    Internet?

Mark, looking past this contretemps, I do admire many of your posts
    over the years.
