40. HE’S A REBEL, The Crystals
The long running argument over who did this first is now finally settled
(I think). The Crystals beat Vikki Carr to the recording studio by 3
days.
Is "Over The Mountain, Cross The Sea" a duet record or avocal group record, given that Rex Garvin also sings on the record. Do
we go by what we hear and call it a "vocal group" record, or do we go bywhat it happens to say on the label and say it's a duet.

I would call it Doo-Wop and avoid the question.

How cowardly of you. Are you a politician now?
Perhaps he chooses not to obsess over petty bullshit.

I say the former, but I imagine that you and BB will say that it's a
duet.

Does Johnnie sing at all on the song? I thought I heard that it was basically a duet between Rex
and Joe, with Johnnie speaking the fadeout.

There are 3 voices on the record. I'm sure they sang it live without Rex being there most of the time, so she is singing, yes.

Do you have details on this?
What happened to settle it? Is there some place you can post a link to
that shows the details?
