    Hamelin's studio recording is too brisk. He did not live with the piece
    long enough before recording it. His later live performances are much
    better, with a more nuanced interpretation. The same can be said for Grosvenor's.

    Ogdon remains the de facto recommendation, it is fine but I think it's
    been superseded.

    Ohlsson/Dohnanyi is probably my favorite, especially their live version
    that has circulated. The Bosendorfer sounds especially great in this
    work.

    The recent Gerstein recording is overrated.
