• BATF Folds Completely Over Forced-Reset Triggers

From BTR1701@21:1/5 to All on Sat May 17 03:16:40 2025
Awesome news. DOJ has settled the forced-reset trigger cases and agreed that BATF is prohibited by the terms of the settlement agreement from ever again contending that FRTs are a "machine-gun" or otherwise unlawful.

I may very well go out and buy one of these for my rifle now just because I can.

Aren't you worried about bad guys like the Vegas shooter using FRTs as
    de facto machine guns?

Yes. I worry about assholes with guns who have decided to commit mass
murder. He had brought a lot of rifles with him and plenty of ammunition.
With or without the mechanism, he was a dangerous guy who made sure he'd
be in position to kill numerous people. Without the mechanism, the only argument is that different people would have been killed, not that the
    crime would have been prevented.

He was rich. There were no circumstances in which anybody would have
questioned him as he prepared to commit the crime.

Since there's nothing I can do about murderous rich assholes, I'm just
    going to live my life.

    "Different" people? Not *fewer* people?

Murderous assholes mean to have a say about that...

He *had* been rich. Apparently he was "this close" to moving
into a cardboard box.. Lots of conflicting stories (and
no, I'm not going to wast more time. Back when this happened
one of the Talking Scribes who Should be sent back to kindergarten...
wrote the first emergency calls were from the smoke detectors
in the shooter's room alerting the fire department.

I FOIL'ed Clark Co's fire service, and nope..

Anyway, that's the extent of my time sink.

I was more worried that *only* bad guys like the Vegas shooter having FRTs, because, let's face it, if you're planning on committing mass murder,
violating BATF regulations won't bother you much.

And it's awful weird how still to this day so much of the investigation into him and the shooting remains locked away unreleased to the public. He's dead
so it's not like there's any trial to prepare for or evidence to preserve or remain confidential so as not to taint a potential jury pool. So why is it being withheld, despite numerous FOIA requests for it?

I didn't know he was broke, and I didn't know the investigation never
was released. Thanks to both of you.

If only there were laws against murder...
