• Krysten Ritter Joins "Daredevil: Born Again" Season 2, Reprising "Jessi

Krysten Ritter is reprising her role of the superhero-turned-private
eye, entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe by being cast in season two
of Marvel Television's Daredevil: Born Again.

Ritter starred as Jones in the eponymous Netflix series in the
mid-2010s. The series and actress generated considerable acclaim and
awards at the time and is considered a highlight during the Netflix era
    of Marvel television.

The casting announcement was made during Marvel's portion of Disney's
    upfront presentation to advertisers Tuesday.

Born Again has been a solid performer on Disney+, with the season finale notching an uptick, according to insiders. The show has also lifted the
Netflix seasons, which now also stream exclusively on Disney+.

"People were watching it as a season four, not at as a first season",
noted Brad Winderbaum, Marvel's head of television and animation,
speaking to The Hollywood Reporter ahead of the presentation.

The exec, a Marvel veteran who only took charge of series in 2021,
earlier this year renewed his contract, a sign of confidence from Marvel
in his abilities to steer the television ship.

Winderbaum noted that the reaction from audiences has been intense, from
the discourse to videos to fan-made art. "It's given us the confidence
of making the show annually into the future", he said.

The exec remained mum on whether other actors and characters from the
Netflix era, notably Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as
Iron Fist, would pop up in the future.

Season two of Daredevil: Born Again will pick up after the cliffhanger
of season one, in which crime lord Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio)
violently consolidated power, leading Matt Murdock (Cox) to go
underground and begin reaching out to allies to resist Fisk and his anti-vigilante task force. Jones will be part of that group of allies.

The series itself was incredibly disappointing. Season #1 was just OK.
Season #2 was, I thought, awful. I don't think I even bothered with
    season #3.

I like Ritter. But that role/show was mostly a misfire.

Maybe Disney+ can do a better job with it than Netflix (it's hard not to
be better at shows than Netflix!). But I am skeptical that they can turn
    this one around...

Agree to disagree. I liked the whole run. Thought it was great. Wished there was more.

FYI - I read that when they were casting the Netflix series, it eventually
came down to a choice between Ritter and Alex Daddario for the role. Duckshoot would also have been a good choice if she'd still been acting.

I've only watched three episodes so far, but I think it's one of their better offerings.

The problem with a lot of the Disney Marvel shows for me is they think they're doing Shakespeare. Daredevil and Jessica Jones and especially The Punisher have always been darker but they like to spend a lot of time standing around talking to let you know how dark and important they are. That's often pretentious.

I thought one of the best of the Disney shows was Hawkeye because it was a lot more fun and Hawkeye was probably my least favorite character going into it. Hailee Steinfeld was great and Jeremy Renner got to do way more with
the character than in any of the movies.

Agreed. I liked "Hawkeye" quite a bit. I think there was recent rumors
of a season #2, but I believe they were quickly squashed, unfortunately.

I did not like the Netflix Marvel shows. The only one I thought was OK
was "The Defenders" (it was uneven at best, though), and that's the one
    that real fans hate, apparently.

That's often pretentious.
I thought one of the best of the Disney shows was Hawkeye because it was a lot more fun and Hawkeye was probably my least favorite character going into it. Hailee Steinfeld was great and Jeremy Renner got to do way more with
the character than in any of the movies.

I agree. Both on the pretentious brooding point and Hawkeye being one of the best Marvel Disney shows so far.

However, I will point out that the Punisher, Jessica Jones, and Daredevil were all originally Netflix shows, not Disney shows, so we can't blame Disney for the talky self-importance in them.

Yay! I love me some Jessica Jones.

The series itself was incredibly disappointing. Season #1 was just OK. >>>>> Season #2 was, I thought, awful. I don't think I even bothered with >>>>> season #3.

I like Ritter. But that role/show was mostly a misfire.

Agree to disagree. I liked the whole run. Thought it was great. Wished there
    was more.

FYI - I read that when they were casting the Netflix series, it eventually
came down to a choice between Ritter and Alex Daddario for the role.
    Duckshoot
would also have been a good choice if she'd still been acting.

Maybe Disney+ can do a better job with it than Netflix (it's hard not to >>>>> be better at shows than Netflix!). But I am skeptical that they can turn >>>>> this one around...

The problem with a lot of the Disney Marvel shows for me is they think
they're doing Shakespeare. Daredevil and Jessica Jones and especially The >>> Punisher have always been darker but they like to spend a lot of time
standing around talking to let you know how dark and important they are. >>> That's often pretentious.

Agreed. I liked "Hawkeye" quite a bit. I think there was recent rumors
of a season #2, but I believe they were quickly squashed, unfortunately.

I saw some articles just recently where Renner said Disney offered a season
2 but at half the salary he made for season 1 so he turned it down. He tongue-in-cheek asked if because of his accident they thought he was only half a Jeremy Renner?

Depending on if/how his injuries limit his ability to perform a very action-oriented role like Hawkeye, then it's actually a legitimate concern
    from the producers' standpoint.
