From Dimensional Traveler@21:1/5 to All on Sat May 10 11:21:49 2025
First I finished off the various "Making Of" and "Behind the Scenes"
extras for season 1 of 'Fringe'

Then: Fringe S2E01 'A New Day in the Old Town'. Which starts with Agent Dunham's death. Oops. But this is 'Fringe' so she gets better.

The glyphs in this episode spell "Tower".

    [sitting in a bar]
Peter Bishop: How did you find me?
Phillip Broyles: I work for the FBI.
    (DUH!)

Just for Arthur (IMDb trivia for the episode):
There are a number of references to The X-Files (1993). One reference is
during the Senate hearing, which itself occurred a number of times
during the series run, the committee chairman refers to the defunct "X" division of the FBI.

The third last episode of the final season, unless they find some way to
get renewed on another network. Hondo and Deke help Hondo's cousin who
has allegedly murdered someone during Marine boot camp. Alfaro's
mother's old boyfriend - the one who used to beat on her - hits her
again and Alfaro sets out to do what he couldn't do when he was just a
kid; he gets an assist from Tan. Hicks' daughter is apparently dating
Rocker and Hicks is *not* pleased and communicates this displeasure to
everyone involved and 20 Squad. I noticed that this episode was directed
by Alex Russell, who played Jim Street in the first 6 seasons.

    A Fist Full of Dollars

I hadn't seen this in a while and was in the mood for a Western so I put
it on. The Man With No Name arrives in a small town controlled by two
rival gangs and works to liberate the town from them.

I'm skeptical about the village in Fistful of Dollars actually being a
real Spanish village; I'm dubious about Spanish architecture being
identical to that of the Old West. I suspect they built the village as a
set with only a handful of structures fully built and the rest just
    being walls and roofs.

    Yesterday (Friday)? Very little.

    All I got through was:

soaps: DOOL - Wed's ep. Honestly, pass. I don't even remember what
happened. I think Holly the Brat was in it, but not very much. I admit
that my interest in this show has flagged lately, as they've ejected
either characters or actors that I care most about, such as Ava. And who
is on canvas being featured now, mostly doesn't interest me.

The Baby My Husband Lied About (LMN) - Even for an LMN/Lifetime flick,
this was incredibly dreary. I will admit that, with Lifetime flicks, the
cast, especially the female cast, makes it or breaks it for me. So when
a Lifetime flick, such as this one, contains an *entire female cast*
that I am *completely unfamiliar* with, it's a major problem.
(Ironically, I was familiar with both male leads here - Clayton James
and Roark Critchlow. It was just the female cast whom I did not know.)
Add on to the fact that I thought this was not written in an interesting
way at all - IOW, the suspense/mystery did not engage me - with a
heroine I didn't care about, and this was one of the poorest Lifetime
flicks I've seen in a while! This is one of those flicks that I will not
be rewatching when LMN inevitably begins rerunning it.

FTR, I'm not watching much today (Sat.) either - I've been
procrastinating grading, and I will have to get to that after dinner...

I have the Fringe blu-rays, but some are still in the shrink wrap. I
may have to pull them off the shelf for that. Actually I am planning on
an X-Files rewatch next year. Maybe I should see about squeezing in
some Fringe while I'm at it.

The third last episode of the final season, unless they
find some way to get renewed on another network. Hondo
and Deke help Hondo's cousin who has allegedly murdered
someone during Marine boot camp. Alfaro's mother's old
boyfriend - the one who used to beat on her - hits her
again and Alfaro sets out to do what he couldn't do when
he was just a kid; he gets an assist from Tan. Hicks'
daughter is apparently dating Rocker and Hicks is *not*
pleased and communicates this displeasure to everyone
involved and 20 Squad. I noticed that this episode was
directed by Alex Russell, who played Jim Street in the
    first 6 seasons.

    A Fist Full of Dollars

I hadn't seen this in a while and was in the mood for a
Western so I put it on. The Man With No Name arrives in
a small town controlled by two rival gangs and works to
    liberate the town from them.

Say, I found that our library has Berlin Noir and several
other titles by Kerr. I began reading it, and like it
pretty well. Always like a snarky detective.

    :)

I'm glad that you found the books AND are enjoying them!

Poor Bernie is like Dudley Do-Right. He keeps trying to
do the right thing (without getting killed by the bad
guys, including the Nazis), but always seems to end up
with the fuzzy end of the lollipop (to quote "Some Like
    It Hot").

Nyssa, who wishes that Mr. Kerr had at least lived long
enough to give Poor Bernie's story a proper ending

    Graham Kerr?

Was surprised to find out he is still around at 91 years
    old.

Yes, surprising, isn't it? After all those huge "slurps"
of wine he took on the show. Smoker too, IIRC.

But he changed his ways after his wife, Trina, had a heart
attack and went for more healthful recipes and eating styles.

Nyssa, who was at the filming of several of Graham Kerr's
cooking shows in Ottawa in the CBC studio on Marivale Road
'way back in the 1970s....one of the recipes he did then
    was <gulp> frogs' legs <ick>

Since you are watching episodes one after another, the show changed
production location AGAIN for season 2; the cow got recast. Toronto
(pilot), New York (season 1), then Vancouver (season 2 till end).

Did you notice any changes? I don't recall noticing but there was a long
    gap between seasons.

I haven't really noticed the changes but I did know about the three
cows. Because there was a disc extra about them. The first Gene
recasting was because they couldn't take the first cow with them when
they moved to New York. The second cow was not friendly and had a habit
    of licking the casts' heads.

What could be more friendly than a loving head lick?

Just for Arthur (IMDb trivia for the episode):
There are a number of references to The X-Files (1993). One reference is >during the Senate hearing, which itself occurred a number of times
during the series run, the committee chairman refers to the defunct "X" >division of the FBI.

Yeah, I noticed the X-Files references when I was watching it.
